Watched "Old Boy" last night. Talk about f***ing with someones head!!!!!!!
That was one of the better movies i've seen of late. The basic premise of the movie for those who haven't seen it is the story of a man who has been abducted and locked in a room for 15 years with nothing but a bed and a television. In that time he sees on the tv that his wife has been murdered and that he is the prime suspect. He doesn't know why or who has locked him in the room. Then one day he is let out and on goes the rest of the movie...
I still can't believe that that guy made him f*** his own daughter....Now thats some serious vengeance!!.
Anyone else seen it?

Wait til eric reads this. Its his favourite film.
I have to agree its a pretty top film, and the bit in your spoiler -- fark never saw that coming. Ingenious!!
Make sure you check out Tae-Guk-Gi for another Top Korean film. The most emotional film I've seen, more so than Friend.

It's an unbelievable movie, but the ending was a bit disappointing, I've got to see the other two revenge trilogy movies.
I haven't seen too many Korean movies, but A Tale of Two Sisters was pretty good as well.

I think this belongs in the Asian movie thread rather than creating a new thread for a single movie.

What are the other two??? Do they tie in with Old boy ?
Just a question
At the end did he get hypnotized so he didn't know it was his daughter?

Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance
Old Boy
Sympathy for Lady Vengeance
Park Chan-wook's "Vengeance trilogy" in that order

I had the Korean release of Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance and the subtitles did not translate any of the letters, and pretty much left a gaping hole in the ending. I'll have to regrab this which have full proper subtitles.

If you can wait Orks, it's due in R4 land 26th July. ;)

Are the other two movies as nasty as old boy?

Mr.V is nastier than Oldboy and made in a far less stylized way.It didn't do well with the audiences as it was far to sombre and grim for most people.
Lady V doesn't have as much violence on screen as the other two but there is still a lot of it there.A fair bit of it is implied and it's porbably closer to a mainsteam film.It is a artistic and cereberal as well though so it's still a long way from a Hollywood type movie.
