Anyone have an idea what it costs to register a Vespa or simular 50cc bike
in QLD ?

Solo-seat is about $200 now. Dual-seat is up near $600.
Engine-size is irrelevant.

It's kinda miserable that you have to pay more than one compulsory third
party insurance if you own a car and a scooter or motorcycle for that
matter. You can only drive/ride one at a time. The registration fees are
not much compared to the insurance component.

Maybe they could tack it on the licences then instead, so people not owning
or even driving cars regularly got slugged every year too.

This shithole adds 3rd Party to petrol so every unlicensed unroadworthy
taxi contributes to the 3rd party insurance fund. Which is bankrupt
anyway from corruption and mismangement.
