I have a TV which has a a DVD and Video attached and I am looking at
getting a larger digital TV in another room which will be a movie room.
I also want a PVR.

So what I want to do is record on one TV and play in another room.
Hopefully without having to cart things around.

I also have a camera that produces nicely AVI format that plays though
the computer but not though the TV without major conversion which to say
the least is a real pain. So I also want to connect though the computer
and download into the PVR in AVI to play the TV.

Anyone have some advice as to what I should look at? Thanking you in
advance.

Be careful, what you predict with the theory of human-caused global
warming as it will be tested soon enough as we aren't going to reduce
carbon dioxide emissions.

You need to spell out what you are attempting to do. Which room will you
record in for example? Can you get an antenna cable into the HT room? Do you
have a STB? Do you intend to have Foxtel etc?

Can you run a cable from one room to the other to output the A/V signals
from one source to the TV in the other room?

Do you want to have analog or digital audio, composite, S-Video, RGB video
etc? This is probably the key question?

Transmitter gadgets can be bought cheaply in supermarkets these day - I
think Aldi has / had them for only $50 or so. The cheapies only have a
composite video in / out, plus L+R audio. A converter from S-Video to
Composite should cost about $6 from Jaycar or similar places, and an S-Video
cable (cheapie) is about the same. You can get twin RCA audio leads for the
PC to transmitter for $5. At the reciever end, you connect a 3 way Composite
plus L+R audio RCA audio lead to the TV and stereo (cheapies are about $5).

Another thread mentioned that S-Video transmitters can also be bought, they
cost more, but I don't know how much better they are.

You are best to have the DVD and recorder in the room that you want to have
the best picture in (movie / HT room). Transmitting will degrade the picture
quality.

DVD players are cheap - $50 will get a budget model. Have a DVD in each
room.

Think about what you want to achieve, using what equipment, and post a more
specific version of the question.

I record TV in the existing room that has the TV now.

I intend to buy a PVR which will do this and I really want is to play my
AVIs on TV and not have to burn DVDs to do like now as I want to connect
my computer into a PVR that can play AVI connected though a cable.
