Hi,

A while ago some people here were a great help to me in pointing out
that there was an item that would convert a TV aerial reception in to
an (RCA ?) red, yellow, white plugs. Now I want to know the opposite.

Can one convert the three plugs from a STB to a standard aerial
input ? For a very old T.V. without those plugs. If so what term would
I use when looking on the net for one and/or asking at an electronics
store please ?

If the STB has an aerial RF out outlet then could one use that
*instead of* using the RCA plugs ?

If one can use either method would one be any better than the other ?
Or would the transmission quality of sound/image be identical ?

Would having both the RF and RCA plugs going to something like a
VCR be any worse than only having one, or the other, connected ?

Any help and/or answers to any/all of the above appreciated.

Regards, John.

You need an RF Modulator. You can buy from Jaycar etc

Not always. Some STBs have RF output, others only pass the aerial signal
through so you can connect it to VCR or whatever.

Composite (yellow RCA) will give a better picture than RF.

No advantage to having both. RCA composite, as I said, will be better than
RF.

Depending on the unit you are coming out of you may need an RF modulator. I
recently did the same thing with my dvd recorder. I converted the RCAs to
one single coax to plug into an old TV. Got mine for about $70 from DSE.
Some units have an inbuilt RF modulator (such as most VCRs and my Topfield
STB).

I think this is what you want?
