I have DVICO HDTV (DVB-T Plus) tuner card and can watch free-to-air TV on my
PC all
OK. I have just had a Foxtel digital cable STB installed in my room, but
can't see it on the DVICO card.

I thought that the cable signal was digital, and the STB converted it to
analogue.

The Divco DVB-T Plus accepts the digital signal from
the aerial. The Divco has a Svideo DIN socket. The Foxtel STB
has 3 component output as well as the coax but no SVideo. I have inputted
the 3 component into the DIN plug, but the quality is terrible.

So I bought the Leadtek because it said it had a RF cable input (which it
does). But even tho I select RF analogue cable in the software, I get no
picture. But if I plug a TV into the STB RF output, it works well.

Does anyone have this working? What capture card?

Doug

If the Foxtel has a RF out (not a pass through) to provide a signal for
TV's that don't have any other inputs, like most VHS machines do, in the
case of my old NEC VHS unit on ch 0 , then you should be able to connect
Foxtel RF out to Dvico RF in and tune the Dvico to ch 0 or whatever.. and
pick up the output from the Foxtell STB. Same would apply to the Leadtek. RF
our from Foxtel STB to Leadtek RF in and then tune to the appropriate
channel on the Leadtek.

Are you saying the STB has YCbCr ? Could the "coax" out be composite?
You should be able to use that.

How on earth did you manage that!? You got bad colour?

If you are using RF, you need to tune the channel, just like on a TV.

You sure its RF, not composite?

Sorry, I don't know the correct terms. I now think I should have said
composite. Three plugs, two for audio and one vid.

The Tuner card came with the adapter. maybe jargon is wrong again

Yes it is RF (coax)

But I have fixed most of my issues.

Seemed to be a software quirk. On the scan page, I can set it to scan RF
analogue or digital. I had been setting the RF Analogue input to "scan", as
per the instruction booklet for the Leadtek DTV2000H, and no channels were
found. I then found another option, "Adaptive scan", which the manual says
scans both the digital and analogue inputs simultaneously. This churned
away for about 10-15mins and found the Foxtel signal! Quality is excellent,
but no audio. The audio should come down the same RF cable, but I haven't
been able to get that yet.

As a workaround I am getting the audio from the Foxtel AV, directly into my
sound card.

Yep, L&R audio, and composite video, all on "RCA" plugs.
"coax" normally refers to the thick RF cable, e.g. from the antenna.
How have you done the audio-in?
You may want a "2xRCA -> 3.5mm stereo plug" cable.

So the card had an adapter for putting composite into the S-video plug?
It may also need a software setting.
How does your manual describe the adapter?

> Yes it is RF (coax)

Composite is usually easier and better than RF.

Is it set for australian standards? We have sound on a different
sub-carrier to the UK at least.

A good idea.

Grab a SCART to S-Video adaptor

run this from the TV out scart and into the s-vide input on the DVICO

Make sure you select s-vid from foxtel, to do this go to setup, picture
settings, output type to S-video and save the settings
