I've just installed the Tevion Digitial PC tuner card (from Aldi) and am
having a problem with sound on most channels - it keeps jittering/fluttering
ie cutting in and out at about half second intervals or faster. Terrible!
BUT the strange thing is, sound is OK on the ABC and 10 HD channels but not
on the 7 HD channel (haven't been able to get 9 at all). Picture is great
on both SD and HD. Reception on my DgTech STB is fine so don't understand
why the sound is so shitty. My computer is a P4 3.2 with 1 gig of memory.
Would be most appreciative of anybody who might care to comment on what my
problem might be?

Looks like its got a problem with just one of the sound formats.
ABC is different to the others.

Likely the default channel details for 9 isnt correct
and you need to manually override that.

Try updating your souncard drivers\motherboard. If your computer had sound
built onto the motherboard you could try putting another soundcard in
it....

sounds like you have bad antenna reception ... does this happen on both
digital and analog receptions?

i have the same card and everything works like a charm ... but my building
has an excellent antenna on the roof that provides both digital and analog
reception ... i am also pretty close to the transmitter on the gold coast
....

my only complaint with this card is that there seems to be little driver
support on the KWORLD site ... the software that came with the card is also
kind of clunky, but for $99 its not a bad deal.

I run 4 cards in the one rather elderly 1G Celeron fine.

Yep, the WINFAST gadget is a excellent bang for buck, also having the
Offical Beta guy from Winfast in the Leadtek forums , and access direct to
the latest drivers and utils before they are on the shelf, very handy, I
have just setup a third unit today, I have 2 in a p4 2.4c box and one in a
AMD 3500+ A64 , both hooked to V398 WS, excellent, the Tevion stuff suffers
from Codec selection problems, as some others do, more insight with far
better advice then I could offer is available here
http://www.dtvforum.info/
and look for (ALDI) as that brand is their own and comes from Hungry
somewhere, also be carefull of Silicon Tuners in the DVT units, but the
AUDIO prob you mention is also mentioned on that forum

cheers

on ABC (digital) there is a delay between audio and video ... very annoying
especially when watching vocalists ... i don't know if its the card or the
broadcast.

I dont watch much live if thats what you mean.

Webscheduler works fine to capture what you care about and you
can watch it while its being captured with DVR Viewer if you want.

I prefer that approach because I hardly ever watch anything live
except the ABC TV News and a few other progs and you can just
pause the viewing if the phone rings or someone shows up and
just unpause it when the interruption stops etc.

So basically I capture everthing I am interested in watching
with WebScheduler with the appropriate repeat option and
what I watch is completely separated from what is captured.

Thats one reason I need 4 cards, mostly for the program overlaps.

I dont get that with my DNTV Live! cards.

The ABC has a different sound format to the other channels.

Thanks for the advice everyone. Have taken the Tevion back to Aldi and
received refund without any hassle. Think I'll try the DNTV Live. Seems to
be well regarded here and on the DBA forum
