type of my card is the 713x BDA DVBT Tuner (KWORLD from Aldi) ... works well
with the following exceptions ...
i am close to the transmitter on the gold coast ... all other digital
channels are crystal clear ... all analog channels also tune well ... i can
tune all digital channels but the digital SBS ... any ideas why my card will
not tune it? any way i can add it in manually? i know the broadcast
frequency, but none of the other settings like PID, etc. ... where can i get
that info?
finally, are there any alternative tuner software for live viewing, i record
very little off free to air TV, just like to watch ... thanks!

Yep, much of the software doesnt have the correct
channel frequency data for SBS outside the capital citys.
> any way i can add it in manually?
Yes, there should be some way to do that in
the software you use to scan for channels.
The detail varys with the software.

I just copied that from the software
that could find it to the one that couldnt.
I'm using PID=1, Video=161, Audio=81 for SBS myself.
If that doesnt work, ask in http://forums.dvbowners.com/index.php?
you should get an answer from someone on the gold coast.

A lot of people like DigitalWatch.
There's quite a bit of discussion of various software in
http://forums.dvbowners.com/index.php? too.

WORKS WELL? You joking?
I got one of those bits of crap. In order to get it on to a DVD-RW you have
to record at low resolution and it looks just CRAP. I have a P4 3.4Ghz
hyperthreading (not that HT makes any diff) with 1gig dual channel ram and I
HAVE to turn off my Seti (Boinc, actually) and have to stop my AV prog from
auto checking while recording. It takes a shit of a long time to record a
half hour prog to DVD. All in all, $99 wasted - but I HAD to try it out, I
must admit.

Interesting. I am not in the capital cities and I get SBS find. I dont get
ABC at all. I get 7,9,10 fine, too. All analogue of course. No digital at
all.

Nothing at all on digital where I am. Not really sure there is supposed to
be, though.

In the terms of this Aldi card, that doesnt make any sense. Nothing like
that can be set anywhere.

You are close enough to the capital city in that regard. In other
words the SBS transmitter is the capital city one in your case.

I was obviously discussing the digital channels.

Corse there's digital channels there.

Fraid so.
> Nothing like that can be set anywhere.
Thats set in the software. Bet there is something like that, there has
to be. Changing it may not be that obvious, but it has to be there.

If you were talking digital, which it appears you were, then that is likely
why. There is no digital signal that this Aldi crap can pick up. OK, I know
that digital is around to pick up, just that the Aldi card wont do it.

Or the antenna you are using wont, anyway.

Possible. It sits on a 10 metre high mast in order to pick up anything at
all. Has to be able to get a clear view East-ish and cant do that any lower.
Now add to it trees growing in that time and you understand why living in
the bush and near the bottom of a valley is a shitty thing to do so far as
TV reception is concerned. Oh and satellite? Believe me - that is WORSE
here.

Dont believe it, you must have fucked up the satellite installation
if you're using the Optarse C1, most likely put the dish where it
has to look thru a tree or something.

Naaa don't have satellite at all. I enquired about it and it just isn't
reliable around here. Neighbour over the road has it and loves it but isn't
getting reliable reception.
