Hi, we have a few computers mostly XP home and 2 XP Pro with 3 linux
file servers. What i would like is to have it so people could log onto
any othe windows computers and it qould grab their profile info and
make it useabel on whatever com[puter they are on. At present i need
to have a user profile setup on each computer. 9 users x 7 users makes
for a major headache at times. While all the files are neatly stored
on the *nix boxes, it's a majot pain in the butt maintaining all the
computers. I've heard and seen roaoming profiles, but have no clue.
Any info, is greatly appreciated :)

Thanks in Advance
J

Roaming Profiles are Windows Domain thing.

Since neither XP home or Linux (AFAIK) don't support full Windows domain
membership, it won't work.

A linux server can be a domain controller and do roaming profiles on NT
based systems.

You're right though about XPhome. You cannot connect to a domain, but I'm
not 100% sure on changing the path of the profile.

It would take a long time to log on and off each time if you were able to
move the local profile to a network location.
