View Full Version : OT: can I cancel noise

Is there any active noise control system I can use at home. I would like to
cance the noises made by a factory that is two blocks away but very
distracting.
I know that the basic principle of active noise control is to cancel a
sound wave (noise) by emitting a secondary opposite (out-of-phase) sound
wave. Are there practical devices that can help me avoid moving house?

Nope. About all that's viable is to drown it out with local
noise and decent new windows if its a brick house.

Or possibly a white or pink noise generator. That will blanket the ambient
noise but may make the house "sound" odd.
It works real well in open plan offices to stop you hearing other sounds
around you.

Yeah, thats what I meant, could have said it more carefully.
Or something similar like the sound of waves on a beach etc.
