What software can be used to read CF cards serial numbers etc.

Hi Rob,
You could do that with your digital camera and some OCR software. Might be a
bit hard to photograph the serial number if the card's inside the camera,
though.
Seriously, though, the serial #s may only be printed on the casing - there's
no particular reason for the card to have an internal ID (which would
increase the cost of manufacture).

They do have internal ID which its possible to access - but I can't
remember how or what its read by.
Cards don't have serials as such on the external of the case - they are
batch numbers.

Hi Rob,
Some do, some don't. Depends on whose cards you're referring to and,
possibly even which of that company's product line. If you want to have a go
at it, look here:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/wceddk40/html/_wceddk_ioctl_disk_get_storageid.asp
and here:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/wceddk40/html/_wceddk_storage_identification.asp
You'll probably have to fix up the munged email lines.
Cheers
