View Full Version : Queensland: Nice weather, shame about the roads :)

Just got back from a nice (almost) week up north. Went up to attend a
wedding, and also have a bit of time off and enjoy the sunshine. Can't say
the same about the roads though :)
As a Victorian, all I can say about the state of Queensland's roads is that
they're fucking *appalling*.
While I was up there I mixed my driving time between a Honda Jazz and a new
Hilux "workmate" tray body. Neither are really my choice of vehicle, but as
I was loaned both free of charge I wasn't really complaining. I covered a
fair distance between Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast, Ipswich and a few other
places, and was just amazed at the condition of the roads.
They really are quite shitful.
The Gateway is one of the most dangerous pieces of shit I've ever had to
drive on, and I was just stupefied that Queensland *still* has coin operated
toll booths. I mean, the traffic problems these things create is amazing,
with people trying to scramble through the change given and correct change
lanes, and then trying to mix it up with the high speed fuckers going
through the toll lanes as it all bottlenecks out the other side going down
into a couple of lanes.
Nice. It's like Charlie Chaplin & the Three Stooges all got pissed one night
and decided to play a game of "How can we best fuck up the major roads in
this state".
On the good side, petrol was slightly cheaper than it is down here, the
seafood in Redcliffe is still nice and the Queensland Government have the
good sense to paint their traffic camera vehicles in a highly visible manner
making them easy to spot.
But the roads? Oh my fucking gawd :)
If it wasn't for the winter weather and the seafood, you could push
Queensland off into the ocean and I wouldn't care one bit :)

Lol :)
I left a couple of dodgey looking ones in the bottom of the bucket.
Trouble for me now is that I ate so many of the bastards that I've had to
remain within a few metres of the dunny all day today :)

Join the "Knobs" and bogans, plenty to spare and I'm sure it cured your
home sickness.. Plenty of Victorians moved up here to "Soil" the place..

Well, the winter weather is very unseasonally cold, seafood in the
places you went probably came from Vietnam .. LOL
Like most Victorian Tourists you enjoyed it.....
This time of the year is a bad time to be on the road, it is full of
rubber necks from VIC, NSW, SA, etc.. horrid drivers bringing their bad
habits north :-)

Stayed a couple of nights at a place called "La Vida" on Anzac Drive (or
road), and it was quite nice. The wedding party lives in Mango Hill so it
was only a short drive from them.

It probably did, but it was pretty good just the same :)

I enjoyed the weather most of all.
It was 4 degrees in Melbourne on the morning I got up to fly out, and and
that shit just knocks me around something shocking. Every day up north was
just fine with me, but the "locals" were complaining that it was cold.
"Cold" was 6 degrees at Tullamarine at 10:30 last night when we arrived :)

I can assure you that I acted quite responsibly while on your states roads.
Only flipped the bird when it was absolutely necessary, and never went over
80km/h in the right lane :)

Nah, you actually will see a lot of it coming off the trawlers behind the
main seafood sales shop at the harbour.

On the drive to FNQ I noticed they like to put speed camera's at the only
safe over taking spots for many kms.
So your stuck in a single lane behind a caravan, come to a clear section and
then there is a camera just waiting for the traffic that either has to push
by the caravan or stay behind for many kms. absolutely fucking crazy idea
that's going to cause more accidents than the original "problem".

Must be winter in Queensland. The mexicans are bitching about the roads
yet again. No matter, next year the southern infestation of geriatric
morons with caravans and no idea where to go will be on again.

Idiot
the roads have been fucked since Old Joh was in charge
the last Labor Govt(Goss) wanted to put a new hwy from the Gateway to
the Gold coast but everyone said no
so who should we blame?
and this year QLD get no funding from the Federal Govt for improvments
to the National hwy(the Ipswich Motorway)
I'm sure if they introduced a state fuel tax like the two states just
south of here we could have much better roads

Of course
the last Transport Minister discovered that these overtaking lanes were
a "Speeding Black Spot" and as such would implement the placing of speed
cameras and radars on these sections
it wouldn't such a problem if the dickheads doing 80 in the single lane
sections didn't speed up to 105 in the overtaking lanes to stop them
trucks from gettin past

Oh! So I should sell my Caravan and not drive down to Victoria, incase I'm
labelled as a "QLD Geriatric moron with Caravan"...
Exactly what age to you, is considered "Geriatic"?

Fuckwit!
The roads have not improved over the years your labor mates got into
power.
In fact your pal Beattie has made one hell of a mess, trying to look
good.
His dumb Treasurer was not SO dumb, leaving the sinking ship before the
shit hit the fan..
> the last Labor Govt(Goss) wanted to put a new hwy from the Gateway to

Yep like Beattie, full of shit and no way to pay for it.

The cunts you and your "Bogan" mates vote for....

Exactly, they did also get funding for the highway near federal canned,
because the fucking idiot Premier, said he was going to Dam the Mary
River. What a bright cunt he is... All Coalition Voters so, we'll drown
them.
Believe me, he is fucked, this was the most stupid idea of his to date.
He will loose power (thank God) and normality will return. Trying to
buy out 3000 properties from the most attractive area on the sunshine
Coast Hinterland is shear stupidity. People from NSW and VIC have been
buying blocks as retirement homes, as it is such a lovely area. 5 to 10
Acre blocks go from $200,000 bare to $1,500,000 established....and your
"mate" thinks he can buy them out and fload the land... ROTFLMAO..
He is more stupid than G.W. Bush (if that is possible)..

in addition to the 8 lanes existing most of the way ?
why ?
the gateway needs attention but other wise its working well.

then why doesn't the labouring govco take some of the TWO BILLION in
its coffers and spend it one health education and roads ? ( quick answer
is cause they are corrupt c^nts)

I would rather see water (dam) views than watch the endless sad progression
of land subdivision. It is better to flood those places than see them
infested with supermarkets, camphor laurels, ride on lawn mower ranches,
horse floats and 4WDs.
