Well i finaly bit the bullet and got one of them new fangled cordless
mice.
Problem is the driver disk that came with it is bloody useless.
It has 3 different drivers on it in 3 folders labled: 3button, 5button,
and 10button. But the driver in the 10button folder only enables 3
buttons. At first i thought maybe the drivers were just in the wrong
folders, so i systematicly tried all 3 drivers, but none of the drivers
enable all buttons.
I tried going to the manufacturers website but they dont even admit to
making mice :S http://www.techworks.com/
The mouse is a Techworks 10 button, cordless, optical with recharging
station.
I got it from officeworks (knew i should have gotten the logitech one
next to it)
I dont like my chances of returning this mouse just because i cant find
a driver..
Any ideas?

WTF does a mouse need 10 buttons!!

AFAIK, Officeworks return policy is reasonable. Why try and exchange it?

IMHO Techworks is a house brand of Officeworks
http://www.officeworksretail.com.au/about/default.htm?page=techworks
so the mouse may also be available under a different name.

And like Falkon says Officeworks have a decent satisfaction guarantee
applying to most products.

"In addition to your refund rights, if you are not completely satisfied with
your purchase from Officeworks, simply return the product to any Officeworks
store with your receipt within seven days of purchase. We will offer a
replacement, exchange or refund provided the product is in 'as new'
condition, including packaging, instruction manuals and all accessories.

they say that, yet the package was a sealed plastic pack that had to be
cut open to get the mouse out. So i dont see how im supposed to return
the packaging in an "as new" condition

You've got a real half glass empty attitude going on there. Why not just try
to return it? If the product doesn't do what it was advertised to do, then
you have a statutory right to be able to anyway.

You obviously can't - and that's the case with *most* packaging these days - but
don't let that stop you taking it back. You'll find that as soon as you explain
it "won't work on my system" they'll offer a refund. Quite simple. And then
get the Logitech ....

Serves you right for buying such a piece of shit mouse.

Why don't you just go buy a A4tech branded mouse?? That's about your
standard!

Nothing listed on driver guide for any Techworks mouse.

Irrelevant since it is not fit for purpose.

Take it back for a refund, we used to exchange/refund items like these in
similar packaging all the time no questions asked.

I would have been highly surprised if there were. It's an Officeworks (aka
ColesMyer) house branding, sure to have never been heard of outside Oz.

Actually, I can't/won't disagree with you on that one - I think that
named brands are really grossly overpriced (when you consider the cost
of a mouse/keyboard compared to what you can pay for a computer unit)

still, they are worth just that little bit extra for the other cheaper
(quality and price) alternatives.
