Pre ordering ps3

I suggest ringing electronic boutique games and ask when they will take pre orders as they are generally one of the first ones to do it

I would like to but I havent heard of an electronic boutique store in geelong.
I will probably try harvey norman & dicksmith/powerhouse.
To a lesser extent kmart, myers and target.

I searched for store locations and geelong has one.
I wont preorder for while, or maybe not at all.
I dont want to pay 999 upfront, unless it was a deposit sort of thing.
Do you reckon there will be huge camp out crowds on release like in the U.S.?

I doubt it, not with that price. The smaller cities will only get people picking up their pre-orders I'd say, maybe a couple of impuse buyers.

Melbourne and Sydney will get a big crowds though, much like the Xbox360.

I won't be buying one until a few months after release, with a worldwide release, the console we get will include the first shipment bugs (as every console has), and so I'll wait for the second or third shipment with the little things corrected.

Ive always been concerned about that.
So you think the second shipment will be safer? or more likely the third?

Yeah, I'm thinking a few months should be enough to pick up most of the faults, wether the revisioned consoles are here by then or not though depends on it's sales in the first quarter I suppose.

Just thought I'd mention that my local Harvey Norman is advertising (in newspaper) pre-orders for the PS3 released 17th November, $999 no special offers or anything else.

No mention of the $829 version.

The PS3 will be released around September .. so, that's around when the G80 will be released, am sticking with my new rig, sure, the PS3 is cheaper but you don't get that feel when your playing with the com :confused:

Atomic mag either May or June issue had an article on the ps3 and that sony had confirmed a worldwide simultaneous release in November this year.

Looks to be spiffy with region free games, bluetooth controllers etc etc

They announced the date ages ago, the PS3 officially launches in Australia on November 17th, unless it gets pushed back (which may happen).

Yes it sure is, for NOVEMBER!

As for the G80, Nvidia have not yet set the date, all that is going off is that the first GPU has been produced. I'd wait for a release by the manufacturer before taking anything as gospel.
