For the run home to the finals, there are two consolations: a) I'll always be above the line of shame, and b) even if I pick Freo for every game, I'll do better than Krud if he picks Essendon for every game.
St Kilda vs Adelaide:
Adelaide - Adelaide have played 4 quarters, and are probably the most consistant team ATM. St Kilda still have something to prove.
Fremantle vs Geelong:
Fremantle - Despite losing some players, we should have the depth to beat the Moggies - we have a perfect record for the past few years.
Brisbane Lions vs Western Bulldogs:
Brisbane Lions - Brisbane are touching on form, but are one dimensional - J. Brown. As good as the Dogs have been, they can't sustain it (unless they play 19 again and get away with it).
Port Adelaide vs West Coast Eagles:
Port Adelaide - An indifferent Port against the "Comeback Queens". I mean, what sort of team gives the opposition "unbeatable" leads into the 3rd quarter only to to beat it? It would be impressive if the teams they gave the "unbeatable" leads to were actually any good.
Hawthorn vs Richmond:
Richmond - Down in Launnie, anything can happen - just wait for the final siren for commentators to let loose their "best" jokes.
Essendon vs Melbourne:
Melbourne - Dees by factors of 1.609 kms.
Kangaroos vs Carlton:
Kangaroos -
Should be close. Nah, last week is as demoralising a loss for Carlton as they come, and won't recover.
Sydney Swans vs Collingwood:
Sydney Swans - Starting to rack up a few wins despite a fade out last week. The Doods will now slip down the slippery slope, but it won't be Mick's fault -oh no, it will be some curse of Fung Shei.

Sportsbet rates them a fair chance too - $2.10 vs West Coast $1.75

I tipped Crows, but only by 30. Bastards would have to flog the
Sainters by 60.

Freo. Hard to tip against them at home.

Brisbane - same as above. Plus they nearly got us last week and they'll
be hurting from that.

Eagles, although Port are a chance.

Richmond.

Melbourne. More pain for the hapless Essendon.

Kangaroos - although Carlton are due. Still it'll be good to see them
lose so that Krud and GF can start the fights again over which side is
more pathetic right now.

Swans. I don't see why people rate Collingdood.

Who does that leave? Carlton and Essendon?

A profoundly ordinary effort; total loss of confidence after a few goals
in the first quarter. Injuries are one thing... but really...
*shudders*
Last week, total loss of confidence after a run of free kicks to the
Dogs in the Second Quarter... This week again...
We really needed to be 8 and 4 going into the break, not 6 and 6. Ah,
well. Here's to a better second half of the season, and a future playing
career for Robbie Haddrill.

I blamed umpiring? I think I blamed their fragility, and their reliance
on ever vulnerable confidence.

On the bright side Mark, I was very impressed by the composure under
pressure of the young Peake. Nothing like his old man, more ofa young
wanganneeen, and I think the lad has a bright future.

Well my tips are fucked for this weekend...but I got the one I wanted
and good on Port for doing the right thing and placing us on top of the
ladder for the break.

He's pretty polished; the coaching staff and management spent about 18
months persuading him that AFL was a good idea and he was quite good at
it, and it seems to have been a sensible investment of time.
Desperately needs a left foot, though. And he could show a little more
Shaun McManus disregard for personal safety, but I like the package.
He's shown a fair bit in the absence of Bell, an obviously
injured-and-shouldn't-be-playing Hasleby and non-contributing Black.
Headland, to his credit, was also quite good when it was only he and
Peake having a go in the middle. At this stage, no one cares if Headland
shows 'glimpses of genius', he has to put his head down and fight for
the ball then kick well...and he did. Couldn't do it on his own, though.
At six-and-six, it's looking a bit grim.
You might say I'm looking forward to the next Derby :-P

At The Dogs game, from my front row seat, had clear view of Shaun make
3 blunders in as many minutes. I kept yelling out "Hackmamus, give it
away...". All 3 times were well within his earshot. The 3rd time I
got a very cold stare...lol. Mind you, he didn't do a Brogan on

Well Shaun's a nice guy... And you certainly can't question his effort
for a moment - just his execution. At his best, he acknowleges his
weaknesses and in terms of kicking, only does the very highest of
percentage plays - longish, forward, to a man in 70m of space is the
ideal sort of thing.

Loin o' Brian was pretty good in a very ordinary effort.
After half time, it was a very good sight to see the Gary Abblet Jr show - that alone made the game worth watching; the rest was- sad. Only Geelong showed stints of effort as a team.
