Celebrating some of the greatest moments of the modern game of cricket, the new Wide World of Sports Connoisseur Series: Cricket - The Vintage Performances DVD is the ultimate showcase of extraodianry Aussie on-field action for the die-hard cricket fan.

Featuring classic test match and one day game performances from cricket heroes Dennis Lillee, Rod Marsh, Merv Hughes, Shane Warne, the Waugh brothers and many others. The Vintage Performances is the first in a three part DVD series to be released under the Wide World of Sport Connoisseur Series banner.

Developed from the Nine Network's archive of over thirty years worth of cricket coverage, The Vintage Performances includes rare footage from the past including the history making 1977 Centenery Test Match, as well as highlights from more recent games such as the unforgettable partnership of Justin Langer and Adam Gilchrist against Pakistan in Hobart in 1999.

Hosted by Nine Network sport commentator Ken Sutcliffe, The Vintage Performances also combines on-field action with interviews and reminiscences from some of cricket's past and present heroes including Mark Taylor, Ian Healy, Greg and Ian Chappell, Doug Walters, Tony Grieg and Richie Benaud.

Providing their own memories of landmark performances and achievements on the field, The Vintage Performances DVD provides cricket fans with a unique insight into how each inspirational performance affected captains, their teammates and the Australian crowds at the time.

Selected highlights of The Vintage Performances disc include Shane Warne's first ball in a test match in England against Mike Gatting; former Australian Captain Mark Taylor's epic Don Bradman record-equalling 334 test match runs in India; Dennis Lillee's stunning performance in one-day semi-final against Viv Richards in 1976; Brian Lara's first test century; the record 464 partnership between the Waugh Brothers in 1990, and many many more.

Showcasing extraordinary individual and team performances both within Australia and overseas, The Vintage Performances identifies the rich history of Australia's dominance in the game across the globe and the importance of its legacy to current Australian team players.

The Region 4 DVD also hosts unique extra footage and features not available on its VHS release, including extra footage from The Gilchrist/Langer partnership, Greg Chappell's Last Match, Tim May's Bowling Performance in the Closest Test and the Last 2 overs of Michael Bevan's One-Day International Victory.
