It's not impossible to get some support in a case like this.
Some years ago my work supplied car was an early Hyundai Sonata, the one
with the Mitsubishi Magna V6 and auto-transmission. The warranty in
those days was 60,000 kms and this car was serviced since new at the
dealer according to the book. A couple of years later the new car
warranty was lifted to 100,000 kms.
At about 80,000 kms my transmission decided to pack it in. It would not
move without revving, then it would suddenly jump into first and spin
the wheels, then it wouldn't shift into second etc. I took it back to
the Hyundai shop, they sent it to a tranny expert, saying they don't do
their own work on the tranny. The tranny expert called me and showed me
the guts of the thing, everything was razzed from metal dust and
shavings and the hydraulic valves were clogged, causing the shifting
problem. He located the problem to a missing seal in the torque
convertor assembly.
He ordered a whole new innards, something like $4,500 worth. He decided
to take the new torque convertor apart to check the seal. It didn't have
one either so the new one was set up to fail. Then he told me that the
Magnas sometimes had the same problem but he had never checked for the
seal.
So I hot-footed it to the Hyundai place and refused to pay, saying that
it was an assembly line problem that they were inflicting on their
buyers. They didn't like my idea. I told them they either paid for the
repair or I was going to Hyundai Australia and then to the NRMA legal
people, and perhaps a motor magazine or two. Even though the car was out
of warranty, the present cars had way more warranty allowance than I had
so far travelled, and the dealer had regularly serviced the transmission
without ever seeing that the fluid was slowly filling with metal dust.
Anyway I was pretty mad while standing at their counter.
They managed to see their way clear to pay one third, Hyundai Aust paid
one third, and Hyundai Korea paid one third. I drove away without paying
anything.
Then again, if it was a Ford, ....

My LG surround sound went bung too! But it was in warranty. LG have a scheme
whereby they let the broken thing sit at the fixers waiting for the bit to
fix it, until the warranty is expired. Very clever.

I drive a VY2 Calais as a daily driver. Sure it isn't the pinnacle of

But I have to laugh at people knocking it and saying Holden is an unreliable
piece of shit.
Yeah this is a rant so you might as well go and put the kettle on. :-)
It has been the most reliable car I have ever owned! And we know Noddy want
it too.:-)
I have test driven the new Typhoon and it is an excellent car but just the
reliability things kind of put me off. I have owned a Falcon before an EL
model it was one of the best falcons made imho. I am still crook at myself
for selling it.
Ahh cant be bothered with the rest cya!

I had a VZ Holden SV6....I sold it in under a year because it was a
fault ridden POS like that last Holden I owne in 1996.
It never actually broke down....but is that a reliable vehicle?

Yes. It took 5 months. Which took it right up to the end of the warranty
period.
The fixers commented when the system was carted in to them, that LG took a
long time to supply components, so it wasn't a one-off.
Naturally I'll never buy anything by LG again either.

Me neither
We have a top of the line $2k LG 100HZ Flat Screen CTV, noisey as all
fuck on low volume and the picture quality is crap too, a $300
Chinese/ALDI job would shit all over it.
We also have a LG 450L fridge/freezer, yeap you guessed it noisey as
all fuck too and guzzels elect.
Won/t buy LG or Krean electronics again and would need major convincing
to ever buy anything from Korea again [Sorry guys, your not years
behind the Japs., more like decades....]

Under that situation I might not also however I have never waited more
than 3 weeks to have anything fixed and it was not an LG , the 60"
screen was 33 days out of warranty , LG fixed it free as it was a known
fault and that's covered for another 12 months as it should , I would
think the repair you had done was also covered.. so go buy some other
cheap Korean thing and see if the warranty is better . As you probably
realise cheap means exactly that
The majority of Australian overseas debt is private and it's mostly on
credit buying "cheap"

I've got a LG DVD/Video combo unit. The power supply died (actually
I think I made a post about it in this NG at the time as an OT post)
as I needed info on the failed IC in the power supply to get a
replacement.
Worked out easy and cheap for me to order a new OEM power supply
from one of their parts suppliers. Delivered to me home quite quickly
and had the unit up and running again shortly after (was not that
difficult for me to work on - seemed a plausible design). Can't say
I have a problem with LG stuff, then again I think that is the only
LG item I have ATM.

Seems to be a trend in modern manufacturing as a whole. You could buy
an early to mid 80s Falcon or Commodore and not experience any of this
shite. Sure, you might need to replace the traumatic or Borg-Warner 40
once a decade, but at least you don't need to be a bloody computer
programmer to work on the fuckers!
Cheers,
Andy. (the other Andy.)

It was fixed under warranty, it didn't cost me a cent. Except I didn't have
a surround system for 5 months, as it took them that long to supply the part
to the repairer (who was LG's nominated warranty repairer).

Bleck, trying to find who the company I used was that supplied parts,
it was not LG itself though.

which means it may well have been more than 12 months old and if it was
a specific failure may have been a popular one , hence waiting until the
part became available , no fun but thats what cheap suppliers do ...
maybe you should by another Asian brand next time..:)
