Help!!

HI all,

I'm going from Mac to PC, so I know very little about PC hardware.

I'm looking to build a machine myself, but although I can source DVD Roms, keyboard etc....can anyone help with what sort of motherboard I should get?

I want a computer for real time video capture, and creating 3D models in MAYA.

Preferably at least 2Gig of RAM, with a video card to drive 2 monitors, so the cursor will end on the RHS of my main monitor, and slide on over to the smaller monitor on the right.

Also, I need TV out (possibly the video capture card will provide this)

I have been told the AMD Athlon beats the P4, can anyone clarify which is best for graphics and why?

And what is DDRAM? With 256k backside bus?

See? I know nothing!!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I'll check it out!!

My main reason for going PC is that MAYA isn't available for Mac, and I can't afford to get all the grunt I want in a new Mac....it'd probably set me back approx 10 grand as opposed to 4 grand!

Looks like I have a lot of learning to do!!
