Tasmania has such a silly transport site, dose anyone know what is
classed as being overloaded with a trailer,considering I drive a 38
year old car,not only that it is very small, and about the only one left
on the road in North tassie as a daily driver,I tend to get picked
on,so would like to do my home work before pulling a Tandem Trailer
through the middle of town with the baby sized 68 Mazda.

It is really pointless ringing the RTA as they don't know, they just say
it should be ok....if one can talk to the tech of the tech
department, then next minute you are fined.

First questions and assumptions.....I should be able to tow a tadem
empty,it dose not weigh more than the car.....seriously i know for fact
this would be dangerous, but who cares.....

What sort of rear overhang can I get on a trailer without getting in
the shit, provided that it is not overloaded ofcourse....as I guess the
answer is zero,or a bit if clearly marked, how much is a bit?

I remember years back the trick was...keep to upto speed limit and
cover your load if above the side of the trailer....
0.7m rear overhang is my target.....on a 6x4 trailer...legal or do I
take the tandem?

I can pull 2 ton with ease in my single axle 6x4 trailer, down hill wet
roads are a bit of a 1st gear brake smoking exercise to prevent the
load from pushing the car straight over the edge of the road.
I do this all the time out here without issue,......so have no idea
what all the fuss is about other than I stopped trusting my 3200lb
towball.
TIA

All I can suggest to avoid drawing attention to yourself is to avoid
tooting at coppers and fercrissake put some clothes on... oh and tuck the
other head under your arm.
