Hi everyone. I'd appreciate any opinions from people here about the
TH-42PV60A 42" HD plasma that I'm about to buy from Dick Smith
Powerhouse. I'm picking one up for $2,999 which is a pretty good price
- but is there anything else out there I should be considering for the
same price?

My lounge room is moderately bright during the day so the 10,000:1
contract ration is an attractive feature for me. The 2 HDMI inputs are
nice too. I guess the high contract will probably lead to faster burn
out though...

So has anyone got any other recommendations?

I know that some will recommend LCD instead but after past experience,
the blacks (or should I say "dark greys") of LCD are too much of a turn
off during dark-room viewing.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give...

Justin

You might consider something like the Lg or Sony rearpro in 55" , will
cost slightly more with the extended warranty , and no matter what you
buy take the big warranty...
Personally I have an Lg 55" rearpro with crt projectors and the image
is very good , ( they were about 5k rrp ) a while back but should be
more in your range now , either way I repeat check out the extended
warranty and if you have doubts go elsewhere .
It should provide full protection and replacement with OEM parts which
of course kills Hardly Normal and the like..
good luck
