At this price I would rather have the Z500, sure it has no hard drive but I have no shortage of networked PC's anyway, they are charging a premium that's for sure. I've seen it running and noticed some stutter with HD files, that was a few months ago, pre release, so perhaps they have updated the firmware since.
And you can always plug a HDD into the Z500 if needed.

http://www.tvix.co.kr/ENG/Products/HDM5000U.aspx.. here the site.. it seems that both z500 and HDM5000u is similar price... I heard that z500 has alot of issues... HDM5000u.. also can host another HDD and u can carry it around to your friends place... to play DVD

Around $100 different at street price plus the Z500 doesn't require the hard drive to work
I heard that z500 has alot of issues...
It had plenty when it first came out but most have been resolved already, I'm sure TviX will have issues also, all Sigma Designs based units do, how quickly they resolve them and how they interact with their customers is another story. I like hard drive based devices such as this (I have 4 different ones) but they are yet to be the perfect solution, will be good once they eventually sort things out (and get more realistic with the pricing)

I have been using Z500 for sometime now. yes there are issues - but most of the things you would want a unit like this to do - works fine.
Z500 support is miles ahead of many other vendors. It is a local product, and Zensonic works quite hard on getting new FW releases to fix issues.
Picture quality is great.
I can recommend it any day.:D

To be expected, the 8621 chipset does not support H264
