Sydney siders will NOT use pubic transport, it is for peasants only.

"We won't give up cars! NSW is addicted to the car, with almost six in 10
voters unwilling to catch public transport more often - even if the State
Government improves the system. A Herald/ACNielsen poll, taken in the
lead-up to a summit this week on the future of the city's transport network,
suggests the enthusiasm of the Carr and Iemma governments for building
bigger and better roads has rubbed off on the public. It found 74 per cent
of people in NSW are "mostly travelling by car". Almost 60 per cent of all
respondents would not travel more on public transport even if services were
improved."

I live in Sydney (Northern Beaches) and would be happy to take Public Transport to work.

I work near Sydney Airport and Public Transport to here would take about 2 hours each way.

That is why I drive which takes around 35 minutes at the time I go.

So when the NSW Govt give us decent Public Transport or I work closer to home I will continue to drive.

My problem with it is the number of iterations required to go between
two places, ie: bus, then ferry or train, then bus. That all takes a
lot of
time (waiting about) and stuffing about. Not to mention, in my case it
is
a bit of a walk to either of the nearest bus stops from home.

I think pubic transport makes sense for folk who only require one
interation of it that virtually picks them up from their house and
drops them at work - say for inner chity dwellers who also work
in said chity. Prolly works well for chities like London, but not
really
here.

That said, who really wants to sit in close proximity to some possibly
fat and smelly other folk? - blech, when you can be in own vehicle,
sitting on sheepskin seat covers, with your favorite driving music
cranked up :-)

EXACTLY! And what if you suddenly decided to pull in for a burger on the way
home. Can't do that with the old train or bus.
