Why is it that you can buy a Yaris in the UK with climate control a/c,
ESP and T/C but not here?

UK Yaris gets a 1.0L engine standard. There is no 1.5L engine option in the
UK either.
UK Yaris 1.0L costs $19,500, compared with $14,990 for our 1.3L.

There is a 1.3L in the UK. The price of this is around the same as
Clio/Punto and something else. Says to me the Clio and Punto are
overpriced.

I never said there wasn't. Oh, and the 1.3L Yaris in the UK is over 10,000
GBP (or A$25,000). ROFL.

Coz people who buy little cars like that are too cheap to pay for those
extras.

For $19.5k you can get a Toyota Corolla, why settle for a paltry Yaris?

Marketed differently. For example the Yaris plays MP3s *rolls eyes*.
The Yaris is feature-rich and marketed at "Neo"s. Neos have iPods and are
research-centric. They will draw up a list of features and compare models
from different manufacturers. As such they will choose the Yaris because it
will have a tick in every box, despite the Corolla being on balance a much
better car for roughly the same price (based on 5 door).

Yaris is much better equipped than Corolla. It wasn't until this month that
Corolla offered 2 airbags and front power windows!

One thing no-one here has mentioned is that on average, the English
person earns more money than we do.
ie. everyone says petrol is so expensive in the UK at over 1 pound
which is about $2.50 our money.
The fact is that they take 1 pound like we take $1 - the exchange rate
is just a bad comparator.
In fact that 10,000 pound Yaris is not the equivalent of our $25k to
the average Englishman.
They earn 32,000 porunds a year, we earn $35,000 a year so it all evens
out.

Then how do you explain the fact that the average UK motor vehicle is
SMALLER than the average Aus vehicle?

That's debatable. For the past 2 months it has been, but for the whole year
to date, Commodore is still ahead.

And the new VE series may push Holden ahead once again.
