G'day guy's,
I'm totaly buggered when it comes to this part of computing! I originaly bought a computer years ago so I could use it for music (Midi) production. I couldn't get it going then so put it into the too hard basket. Now my youngster wants to compose music using a keyboard and the computer.
Do any of you wise ones know of anywhere (site) where I can gain good info on "How to" ?
Much appreciated if you can!

Cheers,

Aussie bob

Well,
I'll look around for a few sites when I get the time Bob, But I know if you're going to use your Keyboard along with your PC, you'll need to ensure that the keyboard has a midi out port, your Soundcard has a (GAME/MIDI) port, and that you also have a midi port.
From then on... it isnt too hard at all, all you'll really have to do then, is aquire the needed software. My father Uses Cakewalk, I use FruityLoops/Cubase, there is also audiologic and Reason, but basically, those programs will allow you to record what you're playing in on the keyboard, change the instruments being recorded, and in turn... then allow you to edit notes/times ect :)
Do you have a midi calbe and such?

Thanks Grim,
I reckon thats where the problem is as I don't have a sound card. My sound is via the MB. I tried plugging into an input on the board but no joy.
Never mind I guess I'll have to fork out for a sound card.

Cheers,
