What is it with old guys that they fire up so quickly and want to go 5
rounds at the drop of a hat ?

I've had my share of name calling finger flipping incidents on the road -
one or two were even my fault - but today was the first time I've actually
got out of the car - against my better judgement, but anyway - find myself
facing up to a guy, gotta by 60yo maybe 5'10", though pretty solid, still a
little unevenly matched (I'm half his age 6'6" and 115kg) - surprisingly he
was the one itching to go old school.

Anyways, the funny part was, his car started to roll down the hill - but it
was behind him and he couldn't see it. I said to him - mate, your car is
rolling down the hill. His reply, "yeh sure, right". I said "seriously,
your car is rolling down the hill" he said "do I look stupid?" I said "you
will look pretty stupid chasing your car down the hill" I took a step back
so he'd look around, and I can tell you - he DID look pretty stupid chasing
his car down the hill !!

I took the opportunity to get in my car and leave.

This guy reversed out of his driveway across 2 lanes of traffic and was then
slow to take off - after failing to give way to me causing me to need to
dramatically slow down. I made no gestures or toot toot sounds (both would
have been justified) he got the shits with me (I think he felt I was
tailgating?) and jabbed on his brakes. I still didn't react (other than
slowing further) , at this point he stopped his car and started waving his
hands at me. I went to go around him, with the intention of leaving but he
opened his car door - blocking my passage. At this poimt a car turned the
corner and was coming towards me - I pulled across to the shoulder on the
rhs and got out the car - "what's your problem ?" - at which point he made
it clear he wanted to fight.

Reinforces my resolve to get an onboard cam with 30min loop to hard drive
recording.

btw - he caught the car ;-)

One of the guys I do Jiu Jitsu with has choked out 2 people and left them
sleeping next to the car by the side of the road. One of them he pulled their
keys out of the ignition and threw them into the bushes next to the road. It
was also raining.

LOL, I prefer using the Vulcan sleep pinch myself :)

Years ago, I was walking through Wollongong shopping centre car park and
some 20yo clown came roaring up the lot, as he came closer, I faced his car
on the drivers side, I yelled out, "it's not a friggin racetrack you know!"
There were mums & kids everywhere at the time too. His response was "I gunna
kill you, you're dead meat, blah, blah, SCREECH!" nearly ran into a car that
seemed to stupidly reverse out in front of him. "WHAT THE FUCK!", he was out
of the car, we looked at me then the other car, at this point I was
regreting my intervention, thinking "this guys an full aggro fruit cake, is
my martial arts training good enough, should I lead with the CC's & 2 litre
coke bottle in my shopping bag?". The 2 front doors on the car opened
together he turned and stormed towards it as the 2 large serious looking
guys got out dressed like realestate agents. His natrual instincts were now
hitting the parachute brake with both hands, something wasn't right. Taking
advantage of the pause with TV like timing, the guy on this side just said
"Hello Sunshine!" and flipped open his badge.

He went all meek, placid & apologetic, the second cop grabbed my name &
address as a possible witness, then they pullted out the ticket book &
started inspecting his XA Falcon, I watched for another 5 minutes before
leaving, they had found things worth writing about in the engine bay, tyres,
bodywork, lights.

Hmm......... Karma, it doesn't happen overnight, but it does happen :)

Its a strange thing that driver hostility. I used to get it when I had SOL
on some mornings (shit on liver), but now I find I'm slowing down a bit
around town, there's a role reversal going on....;-) A Landcruiser flashed
his headlights behind me becausae I was doing 50kph on the main bridge in
town,..I sped up with no feeling of animosity,...meelloooowing I guess.

That has been a desire of mine for many years now - great idea.

I'm pleased that the cops in some states have them fitted - while it stops ANY argument from a
driver (or other) who has clearly broken the law (no complaints there from me at all) and has
been pulled over, it ALSO protects the ME from that odd unprofessional lying cowboy cop!

Good result for everyone all round! A privately operated cam would be even better for resolving
civil disputes.....

it also means its a lot rarer for HWP cars to let you off for speeding.

Must be road rage season. I'm getting along at 50 km/h in a 50 km/h zone
on the bike when I'm caught up by a Ford Falcon and he tailgates as we
approach a stop sign. I stop and he goes up the right of me with left
indicator on. I go left and he goes left, still 50 km/h in a stupid
fuck*ng 50 km/h zone and then 60 km/h when the limit increased to 60 km/h
so Falcon overtakes before the open road disclaimer sign. On reaching
disclaimer sign I passed him and he seemed to want to chase. OK it was
time to check if the bike was running well. It seemed to be well going by
the shrinking dot in the mirror. There you have clear proof that low
speed limits cause tailgating and road rage when adhered to after all
that's all I was doing and with great difficulty too as the bike gets
heavy at low speed agroing my neck problem with left arm pain.
I was not tailgated at unmentionable speeds proving high speed is good
for ones soul.
At 53 I might just get put in the old guy category... damn!! Guess I
should have followed the driver home and knuckled the fuck*r :-0
