The markings for the disabled spaces at my local 5 year old shopping
centre are quite faded, and there's no much lightning so it's easy not
to notice them when parking there at night.

That happened to my father in law once. Went to see a movie, came back
to find we were actually parked in a disabled spot. The pole sign was
obscured by a tree, and the ground markings were faded and near
impossible to see at night. I don't think he contested the fine
although it's interesting that he copped one relatively late at night.

Yes and its even more expensive now they have raised the fine, having a disability my self i find it a lot harder to even find a spot to park.

Mr Roozendaal announced yesterday that he had increased the fines for abusing the scheme from $384 to $461, but with the huge savings the disabled stickers deliver, he admitted the changes might have little effect.
