Right on cue, LPG went up by 8% average in town (Central west nsw). For 2-3
years it was steady at 65c Ltr now its as high as 71.3 Ltre at some out
lets,..half the price of petrol where once it was 25% of petrol. That is the
measure of the rip-off ie LPG vs petrol. How can it become more expensive to
produce compared to petrol? It cant be the excuse that more vehicles are on
gas, for the conversion rush has only just begun. If it climbs to say 2/3 of
petrol or 3/4, the same way diesel parity slowly diminished then went past
petrol, then it becomes a futile conversion

It's the high distribution costs compared to petrol... don't those LPG
tankers run on diesel? :))

You mean fuel price rises have increased the distribution of LPG? I hope
that's the reason,..time will tell. In a "free enterprise" system the
cartel's will not want to see a portion of the fleet getting significantly
cheaper fuel relative to the others,..its a given,..then you have Govco
having to try and find a way of filling the revenue loss and tax-hole caused
by the subsidy and the lower petrol tax receipts. It will all equate to LPG
rising,..I hope I'm wrong.
This year, a bottle of gas for home use now costs $100. It was $76 last
winter.

Part of an incremental tax increase done over a period of years up to a
maximum 12 cents over the original I recall.

The excise doesn't start being applied until 2011 - see the bottom of this

That's around $1.11 per litre (assuming a density of .5kg/litre)...
and you reckon you're being shafted at the bowser! :)

Yes but it will always be more expensive as they pay some poor shmuck to
manually fill hundreds of cylinders a day (my local does anyway).
Trouble is the out of control price increase has lead to some people not
using their heater at all, pensioners dropping off their perch left right
and centre according to A Current Affair.

It's $2.95 per kilogram at my local Bunnings :)

Urk, that's kinda high.
Did notice the other day diesel was 1c per litre less than petrol -
they
must have fecked up as that's giving free energy away.

Tut tut, no, you don't do it that way. Fork lift bottle in back seat of
car at
LPG bowser, and back at home fill your own 9KG bottles from it. One
fills two nicely.

Hope WorkCover isn't watching. You and the servo will both get a sizable
fine for filling a forklift bottle from an LPG pump.
Not really enforced at the moment; that will change as more cars get LPG.

Workcover has no jurisdiction over the actions of private citizens.
> Not really enforced at the moment; that will change as more cars get LPG.
As far as I'm aware, the filling of cylinders fitted with a nozzle that's
actually designed to couple with service station nozzles and have automatic
"80% fill" shutoffs (such as a forklift bottle for example) isn't actually
illegal, as it's no different from filling your car's gas tank.
Filling domestic bottles that have to be "bled" is.

LPG:
(Melbourne, Victoria)
Taylors Lakes, 43.9 cents two nights ago.
Box Hill: 42.9 cents
Clayton & Moorabbin: 49.5 cents
It's been like that for months now, I'm still happy ;)
You can use the dockets too, on LPG that's a big saving, on petrol it's
minute.
