I am selling some investment property an am looking at all options to
re-invest. Im totally over rental properties as ive had 3 over the years &
am more sick of real estate agents lies than the bad tennants with animals
shitting on the carpet. Ive had all the banks 2 week trained 'financial
advisers' trying to stitch me up with their investments when they have none
themselves. Someone mentioned buying a HO or similar. Maybe looking at a 5
year period. Ive no idea about insurance but obviously would house the car
in a secure paid storage facility & tell insurer it would never be on the
road.

Anyone got any idea of how to find past sale prices & where you would
actually go to buy one ?

Cars don't make good investments, partly because they don't generate cash while you have them.

If your investment properties haven't worked, you need to sit down and work out why, so you don't make the same mistakes next time. Not all investment property is bad. If you have some cash to invest and still like property think about getting a serviced apartment with rental guarantee. Don't buy off the plan, get one already operating. I have 2 and they work really well.

Alternatively, think about getting into managed funds that invest in a range of assets. You can also consider gearing in to such funds.

Don't listen to bank sponsored financial advisers - find one or more people who you know to be financially savvy, and who have generated considerable wealth for themselves (from scatch, not from windfall or inheritence), and ask their advice. They won't generally recommend products, but rather approaches and ideas that will be much more helpful.

Shannons have regular auctions of classic cars, and their website posts the
details of such auctions with the selling price (provided the buyer doesn't
mind it being disclosed).

Personally, I think buying such a car as a HO would be a very bad investment
at the moment, as while they might be selling, they are selling in *very*
small numbers and their prices are ridiculously high. The only way such a
vehicle would be a good investment is if you were to obtain one remarkably
cheap and then sell it on today's market. Buying one at today's prices and
speculating that it will be worth more than it is now in five years time
would be a *very* big risk indeed.

You'd probably get a better return on your money by putting it into a fixed
term deposit. Motor cars, even collectable ones, almost always make
appalling investment projects.

Don't. Buy shares in iron ore or copper mines.

You need the advise of a good planner , currently short term medium risk
high return is the way , not a car , I have several 90 day managed notes
out with excellent return and slightly higher risk than fixed term.

How do the managed notes work? How do you set them up? Cheers.

Do yourself a favour and pay for some advice from a registered financial
advisor.

Some people can get good returns from vehicles but the vast majority don't.
Unless you have years of experience and know the market very well you will
most probably be in for a shock.

If you are over the property market then maybe a managed share fund or even
a managed property trust might be for you. Once again, go and get an
independant financial advisor. It will cost you some money but will
probalby be the best money you ever spend.

Reaper

p.s. Anybody who works for a bank IMHO cannot be classed as independant.

It work's for me , it very much depends on certain financial matters
which if you are interested are best to take advice from a decent
quilified person ( not me)
very important to determine if there is on going commission
( you don't want that)
and check the person out with care .
