View Full Version : Modification Legalities.

I'm toying with the idea of doing some simple mods like K&N pod in the box,
and a 2.5inch cat back exhaust system etc. I've been told that the pod in
the box is actually illegal, or at least will void your insurance should you
go to make a claim. Another suggestion was a K&N panel filter in the box. Is
this legal? What about going to the 2.5inch cat back exhaust? Is that legal,
or does that carry any insurance problems?
Maybe dumb questions, but this is the first time I've ever thought about
modifying a car of any description.
Cheers,
Crash Lander

Just put a K&N panel filter in the box, totally legal there, no
insurance probs either...
a 2.5" catback is legal as well (as long as its under the noise reqs),
though you may need to notify your insurance company of the exhaust
modifications.

It's a "just because" thing. Shouldn't affect your policy or premium (if
it does, find another company!), it is so that if you make a claim, the
car on their records matches the car being assessed.
