Incidentally,

I do a bit of flight simming and came across this new device:

http://www.fspilotshop.com/product_info.php?products_id=880

it allows a mulitple monitor set-up with only 1 graphics card.

Flight simming is quite CPU/graphics intensive, so I have come across
several benchmark tests.... all of wich show almost no drop in performance.

If you have been cosidering a multiple monitor set-up for image
editing... it may be worth a look. The reviews have been quite good.

In relation to colour balance...... I have neet seen much on this..
mainly resolution and performance.... based on fps displayed.

looks good
Matrox pioneered multiple monitors many years ago so I imagine that this
unit would work quite well :-)

actually the original multi monitor card was mentioned by more than one
reviewer..... mentioned that they had out-done themselves this time!

I might have to look at getting one in for "Demonstration" purposes :-)

I've been running dual-head displays for years (currently a Matrox
APVe), & the single biggest problem I've had has been with monitor
calibration / colour accuracy. Looking at the ad for the
TripleHead2Go, the technology involved would make it impossible to
calibrate for more than a single monitor, making it unsuitable for
serious photographic work.
