The Dees overcame a slow start to run

Milne's not good enough to be a great
footy player.
He's a good player, but he'll never be a
great one.

they certainly had their chances in the last quarter but were bleeding.
it just goes to show that you can't take semi fit players into a finals
game.
from now on they need to make some hard decisions about who's in their
team next year. guys like pecket and thomson need to go. hamill's body
can't hack it anymore. raph clarke is HOPLESS!!!... trade him.
they desperately need a ruck...what they've got is sub par standard.
rooey needs to BULK UP and get some serious strength.

Saints = club without a coach, thus a club with no idea or future.
Incredible how one man can be so stupid as to not be able to position
let alone play one of the best forwards since Carey.

Hopefully so have we.
Everitt is on the cusp IMO, he could seriously
breakdown next year plus at 33 he ain't getting
any younger.
Gardiner is gone, he could come back but
its a big IF given his recent history
We gotta poach either Hale or McIntosh from North
and I reckon either one of them is worth pick 19

Yeah, I don't think Carlton would even remotely consider Everitt. Too old
and he's left a trail of burnt bridges in his wake everywhere he's gone...
> Gardiner is gone, he could come back but
> its a big IF given his recent history
Who knows? A couple of months ago I would've said "No way!", but I'm
starting to warm to the idea. Apparently he's been playing pretty good footy
for Claremont (who FWIW basically wear a Carlton jumper with a yellow CFC
monogram), but the key is has that been in the ruck for most of the games?
There's no point recruiting him if he's just gonna be a big forward who can
occasionally go in the ruck. If he can still play in the ruck for most of
the game, then he'd be worth considering, and maybe a change of environment
would do him a world of good. West Coast wouldn't expect much in exchange
for him either, maybe our 4th round pick (51).
> We gotta poach either Hale or McIntosh from North
> and I reckon either one of them is worth pick 19
Don't think they'd let either of them go, especially Hale, and to be honest
I'd be very reluctant to trade any of our first four picks (1, 17, 19,
35)...
I had a look at the other ruckmen around the league, and there's not much
there really that'd be available and good enough.
Adelaide - Matthew Clarke, Rhett Biglands, Ben Hudson, John Meesen, Ivan
Maric
There are possibilities here...Meesen and Maric are supposed to be very good
talents, and with Ben Hudson coming back next year, they might consider one
of them or Biglands expendable.
Brisbane - Jamie Charman, Clark Keating, Beau McDonald, Cameron Wood
Keating and McDonald are gawn, so they won't trade...
Collingwood - Josh Fraser, Guy Richards, David Fanning, Brent Hall
After the first two, there's bugger all, but IF they get Everitt, they may
consider Richards expendable. Only trouble is, he seems to be injured a lot.
Essendon - David Hille, Jason Laycock, Tristan Cartledge, Pat Ryder
They may be willing to get rid of Laycock for say, Ian Prendergast.
Snort!!Laycock might be available and he's an alright player. Cartledge
hasn't shown much at AFL level though.
Fremantle- The Big Fella, J-Lo, Robert Warnock
Only really two AFL ready ruckmen so, no chance of a trade.
Geelong - Steven King, Brad Ottens, Mark Blake
Nope. Permanently injured, underperforming and unproven respectively.
Hawthorn - Peter Everitt, Robert Campbell, Simon Taylor, Max Bailey
With Everitt going they won't want to lose another...
Kangaroos- David Hale, Hamish McIntosh, Brad Moran
Don't think either of Hale or McIntosh would be available and Moran's very
raw.
Melbourne - Jeff White, Mark Jamar
Not enough ruck depth to even consider a trade.
Port - Brendan Lade, Dean Brogan, Toby Thurstans, Fabian De Luca
Brogan could possibly be available for the right price, but I don't know
that we'd agree with Port on what that is...
Richmond - Troy Simmonds, Greg Stafford, Trent Knobel
With Stafford retiring, they won't want to lose a ruckman.
St. Kilda - Cain Ackland, Michael Rix, Barry Brooks
Nope. Not good enough.
Sydney - Darren Jolly, Stephen Doyle, Andrew Ericksen, Paul Chambers
Jolly's not for sale, Chambers is rubbish, Ericksen isn't ready, but Doyle
may be available if they can get Everitt
West Coast - Dean Cox, Mark Seaby, Michael Gardiner
Cox and Seaby won't be available, Gardiner's one of the few possible
candidates but there are a few ifs there that need to be sorted out.
Bulldogs - Luke Darcy, Will Minson, Peter Street, Cameron Wight
Darcy and Minson forget about it, with Darcy's injury problems Street's and
important back-up and Wight's not good enough.
So basically the options that I see are: Rhett Biglands, John Meeson, Ivan
Maric, Guy Richards (if they get Everitt), Laycock, Dean Brogan, Stephen
Doyle (if they get Everitt) or Michael Gardiner. I've got no idea if there
are any outstanding non AFL-listed ruckmen at VFL, WAFL or SANFL level...

No chance there gF, North would want
better than that for either of them, but
especially Hale.
Don't even think pick 35.

Is the game not a tad quick for the lumbering styles of the 2 you
mention? Have watched North a few times... and they both have
turning circles wider than the QM!

You said you didnt want a tall that rucked a bit...well thats what
Wight is. He showed today what a guy over 6'6" that can run very fast
can contribute. Wight will be a very good player, I have been saying
that for 2 years... but like most big fellas, he is taking a tad
longer to learn the intricasies of the game.

Does he have a position though? We already have Setanta who's 199cms and can
run like the wind, although he looks like he's finding his niche as a
backman, and then there's his brother Aisake who's 201cms, but still pretty
skinny. Maybe in a few years he'll develop into a ruckman, but we certainly
need another for the present...

As a tall 3rd defender. It will be interesting to see how he fits in
IF.... that's IF... the hype regarding Tom Williams is true.
