Hi
Anybody know how to create a boot disk or CD? My computer came with XP
pre-installed so there is no XP CD available, and I want to be ready for
when the hard disk crashes.
Thanks.

I would buy Acronis and make an image of the Hard disk and in particular the the
OS partition if the Hard Disk is partitioned.
The Acronis also allows you to make a boot disk for your computer. In case of
severe breakdown or in case a new disk is required it is just a matter of a few
minutes to boot from the Acronis Boot Disk and place the Image on the new Hard
disk.
You will naturally have to keep the Image up todate to allow it to restore the
very latest configuration and additions.
For your information, my stats are:
Win 2000, Pentium IV 3Ghz
1 Gb memory,ADSL
200+200 GB disks partitioned C:D:E;as 9.76GB 88.2GB,88.2GB
F: G: as 93.1,93.1 for data
200GB USB2 for Acronis Images (backups)

As you see I have less than 10GB for the operating system and files that
absolutely will not install on other partitions. I do not recommend much less
than 10 GB for the OS.

The vendor MUST, to be in compliance with the MS OEM Builders Licence,
provide a method for restoring your machine to its factory-gate settings.
Are you saying that this machine (presumably bought new) has no such
function at all? (Refer to your User Manual......) If not, then you need to
contact the seller immediately.
