I've read many of the posts on this site but I can't seem to see a definitive answer on whether or not there is a DVD player with a USB 2.0 input, that is able to play a DivX Movie from a 2.5inch, 120GB Portable HDD in a USB 2.0 Case (ie. there is no external power source). I guess it's not really important that USB 2.0 is supported ... It's more important that I can just play a movie from the Portable HDD!
Anyone out there?

Not sure about 'traditional' dvd players with USB 2.0, but something like this would be a good alternative.

The short answer is "no"...
The sticking point is usually that the DVD player's power supply isn't capable of supplying enough current to the USB port to run a portable HDD.

The short answer is "no"...
The long answer yes:eek: but only the more expensive units such as the Z500 and other Sigma Designs chipset based players, players like this start around the $500 mark though

I have found this machine ... http://www.z500series.com/
Seems to offer most of the features of a normal DVD player ... but has DivX, Xvid, Wireless and USB2.0 connectivity
Found it for $449.90 at http://www.megapc.com.au/product_details_and_order.php?select_part_indx=427 0
But .... How about the LG DN100H or Phillips DVP5965K? Has anybody tried connecting a 2.5" 120gb HDD in a USB 2.0 case to any of these machine and got DivX movies to work?

I actually bought an LG DN100h a while ago. Works quite well. I bought a 2gb USB key to which I transfer DivX shows from my PC and watch them on the LG.

This post from Whirlpool might be of interest:
"I've got a Highlander DVX-5850 from strathfield for $98. USB2.0 + SD Slot + HDMI + DVD Upscale and PCM output also. USB runs everything so far except my portable digimate II which has built in mem card readers so it has multiple mass storage... just a normal portable hdd drive works fine though."
