We no longer have a tip at our place, and I now have 10L of used diesel
engine oil.
Any constructive ideas on what to use the vile black stuff for?

If you have timber fences in ya back yard paint the bottom of them with the
oil so that termites dont eat away at the fence

There's a guy who used to go around the service stations which had a
mechanical shop, and collect their sump oil for free. He must have been
making a dollar out of it somehow.
Wonder why mechanics no longer work out of s/stations?

As already mentioned, it's great for keeping termites out of fence
posts... most cockies simply pour it on top of the posts and let it
find its own way down. Start with the stockyards, strainers and end
assemblies next.
And don't forget to treat the shed if it's got timber posts. :)

With all the potholes these days, it's a shame they can't recycle it into
tar.

You don't use it for anything, it needs to be recycled.
Ring the council or ask your local auto service agent, most will be happy to
take used oil.

Hmm, "black diesel"
Or a lot by a lot. I should actually be doing that, it actually
increases
the performance of ordinary bought diesel.
Damo will need a 0.5 micron filter and peristalic pump. Hmmm,
I've got all that stuff. I've also got around 30l of really black
used 'lux stuff. Need to wander down and test the pH of it
though with me digital pH meter.

Now that I'm back online after the wind blew half a forest over our
power lines - thanks for the replies all.
I don't have a problem with termites out here, but I'll keep that one
in mind for future reference.
I did think about filtering it and chucking it in the fuel tank,
because I know it would burn, but surely that would feck up my fuel
system in pretty short order? At the very least I'd have to stock pile
fuel filters.
So yeah I s'pose I'll just hand it in and leave it to the
professionals. How boring :-)

Yeah he does, lets them play in the hot sun with snakes about the
place last time I visited ;-p however suspect far healthier/happier
than Chity based kids who would have more contact with nasty
shite, and pollutants, than country based kids taking a once orf lick
of a fence post.
Yup, if burnt at low temps, resulting 200C or less EGT in a diesel
engine
as a fuel, is prolly not gunna be a good look in these regards either.
Agree, prolly best as a recycle centre special. It seems a waste to
give
away something you already own which is a high energy fuel, and
then go to the servo bowser and get reamed to get that energy back.
Bah, with a single vehicle, re-using it's own used oil as a fuel, can
prolly make much better $ saving on the food store dockets over an
oil change interval.
