And its a wierd, if minor, annoyance.
My Sonata has the single CD player which plays CDs and MP3s. Have
played both over the last year with no problem. Recently burnt a new
MP3 disc (All 5 Beethoven Piano Concertos, at 320kbs) and tested it
out. Played great. Skipped to the second movement of the 1st Concerto,
played great. Decided to hear what the Emperor (5th Concerto) sounded
like.
Not great. Continued to play the 2nd movement of the ist. Tried
ejecting CD. Kept playing. Pressed off button. Kept playing. Turned
ignition off - kept playing. Removed keys and locked car. Kept playing.
Pulled both fuses out (audio and amp) kept playing. Aaargh. Its going
into Klosters tomorrow to get them to look at it, but its gotten me
beat. Just what is the G.I. Joe here? Is it the body computer, or is
some control on the player stuck in the "listen to me" position?
Be nice to have some background before I front the service Department.
Any takers?

They have a 2nd power feed so they remember your radio-stations and the
clock keeps working with the ignition off.
It's probably the fuse marked "Clock" or "interior light".

(PS; Is it still out there playing?)

Nah, thank fuck. Stopped after the track it was on. But still in there,
light still on, no other audio controls work, and the little bugger
still wont come out. Keeping fingers crossed for tomorrow. :)
Thanks for the tip, but even ripping out both fuses - audio and amp -
which Hyundai reckon are the only ones involved made SFA difference. :(

Have you tried enlisting the help of a priest? Sounds bloody possessed.
Good luck.
Cheers,
Andy. (The other Andy.)

ROFL. Thanks to all for your comments, some more, um, helpful, than
others. The demons were exorcised at the dealer today, they did what I
would have done if I wasnt a coward - disconnected and then reconnected
the battery. Fired up perfectly. They also ran diagnostics on it, came
up no probs, but said to bring it back if it reoccurs and they'll put a
new head unit in for me.
And although Klosters reputation is so-so for their service, the
Hyundai people have been good to deal with. So far. :-)

did you think to unhook the neg battery cable from the battery?
no power no music and the CD player should reset and allow you to remove
the disk
you might have to leave the battery cable off for 20 seconds or so

Yep, it's not that unusual for the audio system to lock up and need a hard
reset to sort itself out.
Disconnecting the battery often does the trick.
