Hi all,

I'm a long time lurker but have never posted before.

My DVX 558 recently stopped working alltogether, as if the motor completely shat itself or something, anyway, I found it to be a great player for it's price of about $140, it played all my files about 99% of the time.

Anyway, I'm really poor at the moment (UNI) and I want a cheap replacement which is easy enough to get my hands on. The main priority for me is file support which the 558 was more than adequate for.... if it lasts 2 to 3 years I would be stoked.

Any suggestions will be appreciated, the cheaper the better :o

Thanks guys.

This one is a two for one:)

I'm in the same shoes as Blues.

Very happy with my z340 but I'd like to get my sis a decent player aswell.

I just tried a Sansui.....what a P.O.S...total waste of money.

I need something reliable like the z340 but what???

Appreciate any help

Andw??? :D

If you can wait a few weeks, apparently Strathfield should have 2 models coming that are MTK based (like the 340), and WELL within your price range.

Ditto the Sansui!

My brother in law just bought one and it is the biggest piece of poo. I tried several of my discs which the 558 could play and only about 1 in 10 were supported. Has alot of trouble with normal DVD's too. He's taking it back.

I will wait a couple of weeks and go to strathfield. Thanks.

Much appreciated Andw.
Thankyou. :)

Blues I'm not even going to bother taking mine back....was only $75 anyway.

The main problem I have is the sound.....sounds like ppl are talking underwater.

Do you have the same issue?
