These forums use the vBulletin (http://www.vbulletin.com/) software. It is very neat and full of useful features. There are so many buttons that I don't even know how to use them.:) well will work it out eventually. One thing is certain, it is super easy to set up and maintain.
It appears there are still people who could not access the forums. At least I have reports from Optus@Home users. It is something to do with their transparent proxy server I think. I have reconfigued the DNS again, hopely this will open the door to everyone. If one of your old "buddy" from the old forum can not access the new forums, please ask them to try http://mail.eyo.com.au/forums/ I have set this up temporarily.
For the regular contributors for the Tech Forum, if you don't mind to be the moderators for this forum, please let me know. I will add you to the list. The moderators can access to few extra functions to help maintain the forum.:)

no problems here, and i am on optus cable.
NSU: yep, I've seen forums come and go in the years i've spent harassing people on gaming forums and this is one of the nicer colour schemes I've ever seen.

Alright, I finally got my password straightened out. It's going to take a little time getting used to this new format.

I've used this format, myself, and it is good.
I maintain the M571 Technical Support and Upgrade page at:
home.directlink.net/~timmy/M571/M571.htm
Here, you can find BIOS images, flashing utilities, drivers, and technical documentation such as manuals and component specification sheets.
Techniques and tips for upgrading M571 3.2, 3.2a, and 7.0 boards with AMD K6 2 and K6 III processors are featured, along with other useful and performance improving suggestions that will help keep your M571 based system productive in today's computing environment.
These pages are text based for speedy loading, a consideration that is often appreciated by those all over the globe who seek ready access to technical informantion. MAny have complained about slow download times from existing sources of drivers, and I think you will find M571 driver downloads from this site to be speedy and reliable.
I've also dedicated a page to links of interest to M571 users.
Stop in and give it a look -- I hope that this will address the majority of M571 needs.

Hello Brad, Alan, and Jim :)
I haven't been around the tech forum in some time but you would best remember me under my real name of John Macey
I used to post quite a bit about the M571 on the old forums a year or two or three back  I still have the same machine but she is about to be networked to a new machine I'm building based around an XP 1600 as I can't bring myself to get rid of it totally. DVD Rom and CD Burner etc has pushed the M571 to it's limits :(
Anyway nice to see all the old names still around and look forward to some interesting reads ahead. :)
Great to see you back John. Been quite a while. Also glad to hear you are still in the AMD camp, but with an Athlon-XP system now. What mobo did you select?
Again, great so see you back.......

Thanks :)
I haven't completed the system yet as still accumalating the components needed including the motherboard, but I have the cpu, drives, OS etc etc
I'm considering the following MSI board http://www.msi.com.tw/products/mainboard/mainboard.php?model=MS-6380%20v2.0
as it has had great reviews in a number of places but I may also go for the Epox board http://www.epox.com/html/english/products/motherboard/ep-8kha+.htm
Which although not rated as highly is considerably cheaper. There isn't a huge amount of KT266A boards available yet and not many reviews on them.
hopefully just after Xmas or start January she will be complete.
Tried XP on the M571 a while ago which partly motivated me to update as it had no drivers for most of my plugin cards etc. also been burning VCD's etc a lot lately and the old M571 is a bit slow on encoding to mpeg1. She has been a great machine but it's time to relegate it to lighter duties via networking or such. ;)
Re still in AMD camp
Personally Intel have never been in the running for me, to monopolistic and expensive, I've always backed the underdog and you can't beat AMD for performance vs cost. I doubt there would be a P4 chip yet if it wasn't for AMD pushing the market and the price of all high end chips has certainly fallen as a result. IMHO :)
Anyway I will be around the forums more and hope to get involved again. :)
Hi John
I can heartily recommend that particular MSI board. I have a pair of K7T266 Pro2 boards myself and have built 18 others, all without the smallest hint of a problem. I read that some folks have had problems getting win-xp installed on it but I think it is a matter of people having a tough time sorting out a new mobo and O/S at the same time. I understand the Epox board is excellent as well but I'm sure you have read the reviews. MSI's reputation for stability still holds (despite what usenet shows) but the Epox board does perform a tad better in some reviews. Don't think you can go wrong with either one. Hope you share your experiences getting your new system running with us.
