I am looking for a set top box with at least 2, pref 3 AV inputs. Each AV
input should have its own button on the remote control unit. This would
dramatically reduce the number of remotes needed.
Any suggestions?

I don't have much idea in what's available for STB's with multiple inputs,
but a Logitech Harmony 880 remote will reduce your remote needs down to just
1.

thanks Oz
i use the $15 aldi remote, works great; but i still have to choose the right
equipment button first as i frequently switch between dig tv, sat and analog
tv
that is why i want every piece of equipment on its own av input

As far as I know there isn't a set top box with multi input switching on the
market. Maybe when receiver/amps come standard with a built in DTV tuner as
well? The Logitech Harmony 880 is probably the best bet.

Probably the nearest thing you can get to a STB with inputs, would be one
with two SCART connectors, the "VCR" connector is bidirectional so will
pass-thu to the TV SCART in most if not all cases. I have my DVD player
connected that way.
You could always get a four way AV switch box from DSE/Tandy/Jaycar. There
are models with a remote, so if you have a learning remote you teach it -
mind you by the time you've bothered with all that you may as well have
splurged ~$200 on the Harmony 880 - money well spent according to those in
the know.

Sony AV-RM-3000/3100/2500 is another option, the 3000 series will control
and LEARN 100% up to 54 items
been using them since the 2100 series excellent, TRUE learning remote
a/c, gargae doors, gates, anything at all.
