victim - HP dx 1600 ST Intel (best description i could find) two years old

CPU P4 2.80 GHz with 512 MB RAM, 8 shared with onboard vid card

XP Pro SP 2

problem - when i right click on the screen, the hourglass hangs for 40-50
secs and then i get the desired pop-up menu and the intel graphics "program"

so, what i did was open up processes in task manager so i can follow the cpu
usage

sure enough, when i right click the mouse on the desktop, after about 30-40
secs, igfxsrvc.exe shows up in the processes window with a cpu usage of 50%
for 10 secs and the the pop-up menu and the intel graphics "progam" appears.

off to processlibrary.com and they say,-

"igfxsrvc.exe is a process associated with Intel(R) Common User Interface
from Intel Corporation. It is installed with graphic card drivers with Intel
chipsets. This program is important for the stable and secure running of
your computer and should not be terminated."

any ideas how i can get rid of the delay when i right click the mouse ?

thank you all !!

I would suggest investigating Shell Extensions as outline here.

Try method Two.
