Sitting at the light on the Mt Lindsey , bike in the right lane -left
right on the green , quickly and didn't wait the obligatory 1 second ,
redl-ight runner got him .Luckily there were two of us who knew cpr so
he will make it
I might be charged with assaulting the drunk who hit him...
(fingers crossed) as the coppers didn't think him being pissed was any
reason for him to fall down quite so hard .
(Even Honda riders don't deserve being hit)

Am I the only folk here that needed to scratch various body
parts to get a handle on that post?
Slowly Atec, more detail.
Yes, I've been hit by a red 'light runner which makes
any further interataction with InsCos somthing I don't
really want, and have not had for at least 6 years.
However, don't get the above.

No. It's written atecs usual cryptic shorthand.

Nope.
Sometimes (actually, almost always) reading his posts is a bit like watching
the movie "Contact". You just don't get it unless you have the cipher key.

Long story short
waiting at some light on the highway , multi-lane and the bike in the
right hand lane with right turn or straight ahead option leaves quickly
on the light , makes it into the intersection when a red light runner
takes him out , severely damages everything on the Honda from exhaust
forward and drags the rider a few meters . Several of us stop
immediately ignoring the people behind who wont stop and hit the horns
then help the rider and apply cpr , the drunk driver ( blew almost 3
times the limit I believe) tries to decamp and I suggest he doesn't , I
don't respond well to abuse and attempted fiste-cuffs and he fell down
when trying to run away ( I wont be charged)
I maintain the drunk fell , he claims I threw him to the ground but
all the witnesses say I tried to catch him.
Now the rider will be ok , nothing important damaged badly ( cracked
ribs) but lotsa bruises and shock and breathing hurts a little . Looks
like there will be a prosecution and some of us may have to attend .
Wear your helmet and leathers , they saved this honda owners life .

Atec saw a bike attempt to turn right at an intersection as soon as the
light went green, but a drunk ran a red light and collected the (motor?)
cyclist. Atec and another performed CPR to save the cyclist's life, then
atec got stuck into the drunk, and may end up being charged for it, if
he's lucky.

Ah!
Here I was thinking the bike was negotiating a chicane, two people
were cheering him on to make it and one of the crowd hit him with a
beer can then fell over.

It was a motorcyclist on a Honda <retch... spew>.
Atec decked the inebriate but he's hoping he won't be charged.
Whether he was pissed as well isn't entirely clear. :)

From what I understand and it's scary to think i understand atec
Red light runner knocked a rider off his bike.
Atec rendered assistancce and also gave the red light runner who was a
drink driver a thump.

I did not thump him , he fell down and I failed to catch him correctly
he also didn't get away and is on the bad end of trying to abscond
several other charges including running the light and trying to kill the
honda rider .

I was sitting at the traffic lights at Mt Lindsey.

There was a motorbike in the right lane.

The motorcyclist accelerated off the line as soon as the lights changed
instead of waiting for a second.

A red light runner ran into the motorbike.
[The remainder probably doesn't need translation.]

I don't know why he'd have his fingers crossed that he will be charged
with assault.

Basically he wanted to convey that he's a tough guy, and not to be trifled

Yeah, same here as it was bothering me. There might also
be a lesson in there somewhere that you don't decide to go
from 0 to 100 kph in a short period of time at the same
microsecond the 'lights change to green.
Ooops ... did similar to that today - but looked around first.

Besides picking your nose, what else is there to do when *driving*?
In order to provide efficient flow of traffic, you are supposed to
look before the light goes green.
Some drivers seem to take time to stow the curling iron or whatever
before moving away from a green light.
So only two or three cars go through on each green phase. Followed
by another on amber; and one on red...

Yep that gives me the shites, especially at right turn busy
intersections
where the 'light is green for only a poofteenth of a moment.

Which is exactly why people are reluctant to take off as soon as the
light turns green

LOL. Although, as an aside, it amazes me to think of the large number
of people who think that, when the light turns green for them,
simultaneously a large steel barrier rises out of the road to stop
people coming through a red light.
I was sitting at the traffic lights at Blue Gum Rd Jesmond a few years
back, when an immaculately restored EH left at the first glimmer of
green, only to be totalled by a crappy old Colt that ran the red. I can
still here the slowing kbang, kbang, kbang of the EH's mill (think fan
on radiator noise, only much louder). Talk about cry. What happened to
the Colt? Dunno. Who cares.
Always look.
