Does anyone know what chipset the CONIA M560 DVD/Divx player uses?

I previously had a SONY DVPNS780 divx player which i paid $200 for and it was pretty sh!t when it comes to playing Divx. It couldn't play XVID at all, and if i didn't unpack the files using MPEG4 modifier the playback would be choppy. And if you burnt a multisession DVD disc, the player would only read the files that were burnt in the first session only.

This CONIA on the other hand, which cost only $59 plays DIVX and XVID, and plays all files burnt on a multisession DVD disc, and if i don't unpack XVID files the player still plays it smoothly anyway. It also has kareoke support and USB port.

I love this player!

It just shows sometimes the cheaper 'no name' brands can actually be better than more expensive brands like Sony.

No idea, but if you can take a screen shot of the setup menu I can probably tell you which chipset it is

Thanks. Is that considered a good chipset or poor?

Good ideas poorly implimented, very typical amongst really cheap players, things it does well it will do quite well, you will find things it doesn't do well though. The chipset runs extremely hot which seems to affect their long term stability, flaky behaviour in the summer months is not uncommon.

Sony reskin the interface so not as straight forward to identify, later models use MediaTek chipsets (generally regarded as one of the better chipsets) but they do have somewhat more limited functionality in comparison to other MediaTek based units in the market, the menu shot does look similar to the skinned version but I couldn't be certain without looking at it further. If it's out of warranty take the lid off and have a look.
