I happened to turn on TV1 over the weekend and a trailer following one of
the Star Trek shows informed me this show would be on Sci Fi from Dec1. So
Sci Fi is going to have the same shows as TV1 has been showing Lex, Star
Trek, Star Gate etc but switching numbers to get people to fork out more
cash banking that a lot of Sci Fi fans are fanatics and will pay cash to get
their fix.
Shame Foxtel.

Some new shows, looking forward to it.
Austar sub cards open-up the SciFi channel (Promo) today in non provider
decoders, but will not be loaded into Austar provider boxes till the 17th.
Fox boxes and subscribers on the other hand have had the promo since
November 1.

Shame? No way! Sci-fi fans have been waiting for this for a long time.
Yes, many of the shows were already on TV1. But now, any time of the day, a
sci-fi nut such as myself can switch over to it. It's fantastic.

The channel is owned by TV1.Neither Foxtel or any of it's shareholders
have any ownership in TV1. So how can you blame Foxtel? It's TV1s
channel.

They're adding some other stuff as well. Farscape starting from
the beginning being one example. The schedule looks pretty reasonable
even if it is mostly oldies.
And it frees up space on TV1 for non-SF programming.

What did you expect Sci-Fi to screen? Green Acres?

He probably wanted Home & Away or Neighbours.

I don't want to pay for the extra for the shows I enjoy. Sci Fi is not in my
package but TV1 is! hence the bitching.

Heance my question again, you would rather not a sci-fi channel on
pay-tv, and that the sci-fi stays on TV1 etc? It ain't gonna happen.

A Sci-Fi Channel without Star Trek is like a movie channel without movies. The whole point of a Sci-Fi Channel is to concentrate Sci-Fi programming on a single channel, not on a general entertainment channel like TV1.

Guess what!
Its only available on the new "My Escape" package I am told.
And of course I don't get that one. I am still on the old packages

I think most of us either already have a package that will include
SciFi or else don't want the channel, and so either way we just don't
care.

These days you can get Basic + One Entertainment for what you used to
pay for Basic anyway...
So live with it ... finally Foxtel has taken one tiny step toward a real
channel.

Um it's more expensive now than it used to be.
