Its a DT1352TH - nearly 4 years old - no sign of life.
I guess I'll have to get another cheapie.....
Are there any with SCART output to the TV, that's my current method and it
works well?

Mine got consigned ot the cupboard-of-old-tech years ago now. Pile of crap,
that Thomson STB - tediously slow channel changes, complete inability to
skip unused channels, no Dolby Digital support, no digital output... the
list goes on :)

I'd recommend (if it's just a STB you're after) that you get the
Digicrystal one that Strathfield sells. It's a rebadged Digenius box from
Germany, and they're superb for the price. There's a PVR version also
available.

I agree, I bought one of those my my Mum and have one myself hooked up
as the 2nd backup for PIP and it works perfectly every time.. Even better
than the Panasonic.

They're not a bad looking unit either!

This is really funny. I bought a Thompson STB about 4 years ago - they
were sold by somebody operating out of a warehouse on the Sydney
Northern Beaches. I paid less than $200. There was a great to do (on
this newsgroup) with lots of knockers of the product, the seller, and
the sales method. My box still works perfectly - bit slow on channel
change, but I think the PQ is better than my toppy PVR. One of my
better buys. I hope whoever sold it to me did ok!
Cheers
