Good news for Melbourne peeps!
DFO Spencer St is set to open this week. The VIP shopping night is on Wed 29 (if you're lucky enough to have obtained a pass) and the centre officially opens to the public on Thurs 30. About bloody time too, it was supposed to open by the Commonwealth Games...
Just in time for Christmas shopping :) The level plans indicate that it'll be just as big as the suburban DFOs with around 100 stores in the main complex. Centre trading hours will be 10-6 Mon-Sun, with late night trading until 9pm on Fridays.
There are currently DFO centres in Brisbane, Sydney, Cheltenham and Essendon (where I currently work). Additional centres are planned for Canberra, Cairns, Townsville, Jindalee, Avalon and Hobart.
Who's excited? Who's ready to scoop some bargains? :D

I love DFO brissy.....only been a couple of times but definately worth it. Although it is tempting to overspend, I take cash only and thats my limit for the day, otherwise the bills wouldn't get paid :dD

Ummm, maybe I'd be a little more than I am right now if I knew what a DFO was?!? (maybe just my 'little bit country' talking) :p
By the context of the thread though, I'm guessing it's a shopping centre chain?
A good one?

still better than normal though sometimes for certain things. :p

I personally love the centres but you have to be a savvy shopper. You can't fall into the trap of thinking everything's a bargain just because it's DFO. Some stores have their current, full priced stock out as well as their reduced items. But if you're in touch with current season and know your prices, there's a dangerous amount of shopping to be had!
I wonder how much Spencer St is going to detract from sales in the rest of the CBD. Is say, the Bourke St Mall going to become a ghost town? Or will the novelty wear off after Christmas?

That's another thing I don't understand.
If it looks good on me one year, why doesn't it look good on me next year??
Hell, I think I make grandpa shirts look good, but I think they were in and out of season about 6-8 years ago??
STUPID FASHION POLICE!! :p :D

l agree, l only wear cotton shirts so l get my summer shirts when summers finished and there about 5 to 10 dollars l have about 12 years supply in the wardrobe just sitting there going out of fashion, but what the hey :dD :dD
One of the good things of having daughters in their 20's and being about my size, they have so many clothes that are "so yesterday" :o :dD then I get their hand me downs. :D

Direct Factory Outlets remind me of the many butcher shops claiming to sell meat at wholesale prices. :rolling:
Yes, occasionally there are bargains to be had, but in the long run the overheads of a DFO outlet are essentially the same as that of any other retail outlet. Significant savings are usually only made with the economies due to bulk purchases. Can I have ten vanity units, two pallets worth of toilet paper (really!), and 48 black t-shirts with "UP YOURS" printed on them in white, please?

I was wondering whether this website could start collecting information on where to find Factory Outlets (for each state). In Melbourne you can pretty much find an outlet for most name brands. I moved to Perth 3 years ago and have found quite a few and would love to share the details with anyone that is interested.

I agree with Tina27
We should have a thread/post for the collection of information on where to find Factory Outlets (for each state). It would be great!

I don't know why this thread should be in the competitions section. This thread is going to be moved to another shortly.

Cookies & More - Shp 5/ 321 Victoria Rd Malaga
there is also a good cake shop that have seconds in Milly Crt, Malaga. You can buy cheesecakes as well. Best to go earlier in the day to get great specials. Some of the second look really good and you can pick something up for up to $20.
On Victoria Rd, Malaga there is a meat wholesale place. Can't remember the name but you can buy meat in bulk packs and it costs a lot less. The meat is all freeze packed and tastes great.
There is also a Meat wholesaler in Malaga - L & N Meats - Shp 5/ 321 Victoria Rd Malaga. I haven't been there before but its open to public.
