I drove back to Sydney on Saturday night (about 9pm, I think). There was
rather heavy fog at Bulli Tops, I was doing about 70 in the 110 zone, with
front and rear fog lights on, when some idiot goes past doing 120+ with his
hazard lights flashing.
The road was clear, but it wouldn't surprise me if there was an accident
earlier.

What's your point? That he was doing 120km/h or he had his hazard
lights on?
I'm not sure if still is, but as far as I know it is, legal to drive
with your hazards on in heavy fog. A lot of cars don't have fog lights
fitted, and this was brought in to reduce the risk of accidents in this
particular area.
It is amazing how much difference it can make to visibility with hazard
lights on. Please don't get back into the debate about whether hazard
lights are a good thing, but at least they are better than nothing.

My point is he was going way too fast for the conditions.

I hope that you extended him the courtesy of a unimpeded road. It may well have been the only
way to indicate that his journey was (legitimately) urgent.

Sydney lunatic drivers. yesterday they managed to stuff the M5 just as I was
getting on it, someone avoided a dog, and there was a 3 car smash. People
driving at speed with their noses up each others' bums. When I went past,
it was a ford courier ute, a peugeot and a swift.

Yep typical. I have a real paranoia about following too closely,
and as I might have mentioned before, leave a stack load of
car lengths in front of me.
I don't really care how closely folk follow behind me - they
only gunna cop something similar to railway track through
the front of their car, and I can say to them "Oh dear ... that
doesn't look good - hope it doesn't cost much to repair,
have a nice day" while they are saying something along
the lines of "Oooops was using cell phone, sorry", then
I say something along the lines of "no worries", and
continue along my way. While that has happened to
before, folk in cars don't generally tend to tailgate me.
Folk also don't really cut infront of me, prolly don't
notice it as the distance I've left is enough for them
to change lanes safely, or they really going fast
enough to do it. However folk take it a bit too
close for comfort if I'm driving the 'rolla and not
the 'lux.
Frankly I don't like driving the 'rolla - the way
other drivers behave is then quite disturbing.
In this way, no how, no way, gunna see me
riding me dirt bike to work and back in chitty
traffic.
