regulation is required but a decent set of laws bearing some
relationship to reality would be a start and then ensure that drivers
learn to do so and not just pass the test , then build a proper working
traffic school and make all school kiddies gain access to it for free
and credit for passing as required .

P platers are a concern. On trips back/forwards to work they are
usually the ones in a crash. This makes sense, as they don't yet
have the proper "hands on" skills, even if they got top marks in
a "theory test".

I think I recently made a post about the last one I saw, leaning
against broken vehicle still in middle of r'about making a cell
'phone call - no concept of safety.

P platers just need to gain experience, you have to start
somewhere and learn though, and that's what they do (well
in most cases).

We have a P plater working in our shop, like she has had her licence less
than a week, she pulled up next to us at a set of traffic lights, music
blaring, then she took off with the typical wheelie and told everyone she
dragged us off.

Like, I have a VT which realy motors, she has a VL, I also had my wife and 3
of our kids on board..

And I took off slowly.

I keep telling her, lets line up at the lights together and then see who
gets left behind.

you see more cars in accos or mishaps up that way than trucks. sure the
trucks come off sometimes, but the ratio of car to truck incidents would be
big.

the biggest problem up there is QFM and their ilk doing big speeds and
harrassing other trucks and cars, reason being they all get nice big 600hp
kenworths and so get paid fuckall and are pushed like bastards.

target the cause of problems, not the symptoms. an ideology that seems to
have vanished in all areas of life these days.
