I mean, what's that all about?

It's bad enough that there's a bunch of idiots on the roads who think
that driving around during the daytime in perfect visibility has to be
done WITH THEIR @$#^& HEADLIGHTS ON (chiefly Vulvo drivers), but now
there's a whole new breed, even more numerous than the last, who insist
on driving around with their @$#^* folg lights on when there isn't even
any fog.

Surely it's an offence to do this?

Why aren't the cops booking the stupid buggers?

Why is it mostly 4WD-drivers, as usual, behaving in this
characteristically selfish and incosniderate manner?

Research "daytime running lights" and get back to us w/ your apology.

How does that explain all these idiots with their fog lights on?

WHy are people whose eyesight is so poor that they need to have their
headlights on in 100% daytime visibility even allowed to drive?

Wouldn't we all be a lot safer if these visually-impaired Vulvo drivers
just caught public transport instead?

Actually, it's the other way around
In some places you are REQUIRED by LAW to have "daylight running" lights ON.
And there's a simple reason for it
It reduces the number of accidents that occur

And do you know why ?
Because it allows idiots like you to see better the other cars on the
road, so that idiots like you don't run into them....

Ok I will take the troll.

Police several years ago had posters up in their stations telling people
they should run their head lights during the day to be more visible to
other drivers.

All coaches have a set of front day lights.

Why does this bother you so much? I have seen some commodores (not sure
if it is factory) with headlights that are on as soon as you turn the key.

Places up close to the Arctic Circle, you mean, eg Norway & Finland?

Exactly why is that relevant to us here in Australia?

Here in Australia? Nope.

But I've got a good way to reduce accidents - get all the idiots who
can't drive without having their headlights on in the middle of the day
right off the road.

> And do you know why ?
> Because it allows idiots like you to see better the other cars on the

My eyesight is fine - I don't need idiots to put their headlights on in
the middle of the day. If *they* think it's required, they should pull
over instead, get their eyes tested, and maybe catch a taxi instead.

> road, so that idiots like you don't run into them....

I've got a better plan - it is patently obvious that it would be a lot
safer if ALL cars were white - especially 4WDs due to the inherent lack
of control most of their drivers seem to possess over their vehicles
and their all round bad driving.

uh, OK, so some idiot gets access to a colour printer and you believe
anything they decide to print out?

It is patently obvious that daytime lights in conditions of perfect
visibility are a completely unnecessary annoyance to other drivers.

FOG lights when there is NO FOG are even worse than an annoyance - they
are surely an offence.

"Drive with your headlights on between the hours of sunset and sunrise
or when conditions require it".

"Do not use fog lamps except when visibility is very poor".

Basically - anybody driving at with headlights on during the day (in
good visibility) or with foglights on anytime there isn't any fog (or
heavy rain) should be taken off the road.

While you correctly state that it is an offence to drive in good visibility
with foglights on except in reduced visibility, it is not only not an
offence to travel with headlights on in daylight, it is often recommended.
In fact, large areas of NSW have the highways signposted recommending it,
so you can hardly criticise drivers for doing so, let alone impute it to
any class or brand of car. Motor bikes ARE required to have the headlights
on. Unfortunately, most cars have high beam warning lights that are
invisible or nearly so in sunlight, so it is not uncommon to find cars
driving on high beam and unaware of it (and that IS illegal).

Of course, as you correctly state, it would be more effective to require
cars to be light coloured (which is sensible in this climate anyway) and
specifically to ban black or near black cars.

If you want to get all the idiots off the road - then let's start with you.
You sound like one of the biggest idiots. Do you honestly think people put
their headlights/fog lights on during the day - so that THEY can see
better?! It's so wankers like you will see them easily, and hopefully fuck
off away.

Where have you been that you only recently noticed what been going on

It is in WA and NSW, with a bit of luck the rest of the states will follow.

How long have BMW's and SS Commodores (who are the main problem) been 4WD?

No cars currently sold in Australia are fitted with "daytime running
lights" from the factory.
Now what did you say about an apology?

No where in Australia is there such a requirement.
The OP mentioned fog lamps which are not the same as daytime running lamps.

Headlamps are not a problem but poorly aimed (which many are from the
factory) fog lamps are and in 2 states its against the law to use them
in clear conditions.

They do?
I've never seen this in Vic.

I seem to recollect a study that indicated that with lights on during
daylight hours many drivers incorrectly estimated distances and safety
considerations.

I agree that fog lights are unnecessary at any time there is no fog
and can interfere with an oncoming driver's vision.
