Bugger!
Mentioned me & 5 mates going in on a 1946 Halvo. Most of us were like a
bull at a gate, and we'd been discussing deals with the owner because
he was so convinced that it would pass survey with flying colours.
Well, in short, it's rooted!
When we slipped it the first thing we discovered were the dozen copper
plates / patches, (just on one side!), and it was basically all
downhill from there. The engines may have only done 200 hours since a
complete rebuild but we discovered that was still in 1993, and there's
stuff-all evidence anything has been done since!
Anyway, unless he's prepared to drop the price about $60k, look's like
we're still searching.

Bugger....very unusual for a Halvo.
I know a couple of good timber boatbuilders, one did his
apprenticeship with Halvorsen....
Oz1...of the 3 twins.
I welcome you to crackerbox palace,
We've been expecting you.

One of the six is actually a shipwright and he was talking today
(whilst we were all drowning our sorrows shore-bound!) about another
brand by an ex-Halvo builder/apprentice. Forget the name but it was
double-barreled (e.g.Hanna Barberra). The lines aren't as nice but the
quality is there and the example he has in mind already has a
flybridge.

That sounds very much like the Halvo a mate of mine used to own over 40 years ago. It sank at the
moorings in Bobbin Head a couple of times, hence the copper plates used as patches.
He ended up swapping it for a trailer.
