Folks,

Picked up the new phone Friday, and am now trying to figure out how I can save a
ringtone to it. Phone is an LG TU500 (NextG), and PC is running XP SP2.
I have created a simple ringtone(mp3) that I want to save to the phone.

In 'My Computer', I have a folder that is titled LG Phone, and has appeared
since installing the phone software(Including the phone-sync software). I saved
the file to this folder, but it doesnt seem to sync it to the phone. I have
synched the phone a couple of times since, but looking into the phone software,
none of it seems to have the capability to move files like ringtones across to
the phone. There seems to be an 'other files' folder on the phone, but no
obvious way of moving something to it.

Device manager isnt flagging any dud connections/peripherals, and the phone is
shown under modems, so the computer seems to know it's there. The phone
management software(on the PC) is happy to sync my contacts/notes/calendar, but
other files dont seem to be an option.

Simple solution would be to send the ringtone to the phone, but I'm out of
coverage area (at home), so this isnt an option till I go to town late in the
week.

Any ideas on how to transfer a file across to the phone from the PC? Surely,
this must be an easy thing to do!

Cheers,

Rod,

Unfortunately, you'll have to use Bluetooth to transfer the ringtone to
your handset.
The only trick, make sure you have Dialup Networking set to USB while
you transfer to/from the handset.

I too have a LG TU500, and that's the only way I've found to move stuff
to/from the phone.
Good Luck

Yes, but Nokia dont seem to make a phone in NextG(or in CDMA any more) that can
use a car kit with an external antenna. Otherwise, I'd have bought a Nokia...

kcoj,

A bit phukking late for me; I have already bought a NextG phone. I wouldnt have
bought a NextG phone if Nokia were still making Car kits (ones that utilise an
external antenna) for ANY of their CDMA models, but they dont(That I could find
4 months ago). And they dont make ANY NextG phones at this stage.

Fat lot of use a Next G phone is to me (or any type of phone for that matter) if
it doesnt have a car kit.

I doubt I will bother with Nokia any more. I liked them at one stage for their
menu layout and small neat handsets (in opposition to some of the other stuff
around at the time). However, they seem to have lost me for a satisfied
customer.

I probably wont even 'rem I heard it here'...

Cheers,
