How bad are you when it comes to swearing?
I have some kind of automatic switch where I never swear in front of people such as the elderly, kids or relatives, but I swear like a trooper at work or swear if I'm really upset about something.:rolling:
I'll pretty much use any word that comes to mind, but never the 'C' word.

I swear whenever I'm doing something "practical" that's giving me grief. I am enraged by unhelpful inanimate objects :rolling: , to the extent that I ignore the elderly neighbour and my own kids when working on the @#$%@#$ car (which is meant to be an animate object FFS  ). Also when I hurt myself while undertaking said activities, it's on for young and old, "c" word and all. :D
I work in a fairly "refined" workplace where people hardly know or care about what's on TV let alone cuss, so I have to watch myself. With my own little crew I let fly occasionally when the shit hits the fan, they kind of know me well enough to write it off as a character trait.
I swear a bit in discussion with my wife about the extended family. She's even started to do the same, getting used to it from me I suppose. She's never been one for foul language, but doesn't seem to get too upset about it if it's within certain limits.

i pretty much use the F word exclusively as a swear word.
Not in any kind of bellowing tone, unless i'm calling someone a F'er
My usage of it depends on how annoyed i get

I wondered how long it would be until someone used the thread to drop a few and Stinky comes in miles ahead of anyone.

I'm not that bad, which is amazing considering that I used to swear so often that I didn't even know I was doing it. I had a guy tell me once how many swear words I used in a fragment of a conversation and I didn't recall any swear words at all.
I swear at the television. There are plenty of stupid fucking things on it and dumbarse people. I say GD a lot if something is of importance and I forgot, I screwed somthing up, I get angry, I get frustrated, or I bang my toe into something sharp and pointy.
Apart from normal swearing like the above, it's somehow left my vocabulary without me trying to hard and it was quite a long time ago that I tried to clean up my vocabulary.
I also have the on and off switch that works fairly well, but it's somewhat of a releif to accidently slip one out and feel normal for it... not care, occasionally. Not much in front of kids, but it's happened in front of my church minister for example. I don't think he cares. It's much easier that I knew him personally before he was even qualified. I feel... when someone else lets it slip out, for example the minister's wife who is a bit more snobby about her dogma, I feel some ease if she slips out GD. I'm not really to aware of being a little up tight until something like that happens and then I ease up on myself.
For some reason, my brother doesn't count when it comes to the on off switch. If he pisses me off bad enough then I could be standing in a day care centre and it will come out 20 times over. With my parents it comes out 3 times over. As a result, my parents don't actually know that it isn't how I behave around other people and being judgemental as parents can be, they are annoying about it. It's like that with other things as well but I haven't really ever broken it down to what it is, which is "No, but you have it all wrong... it's just you that I feel justified in disrespecting like this, I respect everyone else in the world except for you". I don't know why I still have that disrespect for them. Perhaps there is a valid reason. On the surface it looks selfish and immature... may or may not be the case. Probably is.

I'll pretty much use any word that comes to mind, but never the 'C' word. All the fucking time :PI Nahhhhhhh only when I'm really pissed off usually.
As for swearing in front of elderly, I kicked my FIL out of my house on my birthday about 6 years ago for that offence. Literally every second word was a C or F bomb with other assorted language chucked in, like Shit for example. My Grandmother (then 82 was not amused but said nothing) but my father stood up and asked him to tone it down, or they'd leave. The FIL told him if they don't like it, leave. To which I said to him "This is MY house. Get the hell out of my house now!" Man, wasn't that fun. As a result, my parents left, and as I was pushing him out the door the MIL fainted on the grass and needed an ambulance :rolling: The fun part then started - he accused me of "killing" his wife and wanted to take a swing at me, but the BIL's stopped him. Damn meddlers  :PI It was my ONE chance to have a crack at the old alcho.
Best call I ever made though! :pirate:
I hardly ever swear and I really hate the "C" word, I'll swear when I'm really angry or if I hurt myself. But not the "F" word but I know sometimes I have come out with that one.....probably sh!t or b!tch, but I have been around kids for so long I've refrained from swearing and around other people as well.
My kids swear around me sometimes and I really don't like it all, I don't tell them not to anymore besides the fact their adults and can make up their own minds ( if they have potty mouths I can't stop them ) but if I keep telling them not to, they swear more to annoy me I think.

I swear like a trooper :o
I try very hard not to, as I know I sound like someone from Frankston :D
I don't swear at work, and I try not to swear around my mum at all. However, my stepdad and I will have a very animated conversations and it all comes out then, but then my mum comes home and we have to watch ourselves. It's amusing.
I notice that I swear a lot more than I used to, part of that being that I'm now an "adult" part of it that I lived in a house with two twenty-something men for a couple of months and their foul language rubbed off on me.
I really try not to swear around my cousins who are kids, but it's hard when my 11 yo cousin is dropping more f**ks and s**ts than me.
Never
I just can't use swear words at all :pirate:

I've never been one to use foul language really. Usually alone under my breath if I do. When I hear swearing in everyday situations or conversations it really grates me - its like its just cheapening the language and descending into pointless crudity. That said, I can watch foul-mouthed movies and laugh, or dramatically I can appreciate where its true to a social setting and characters. Of in a joke for added emphasis, like General Custer's last words - "look at all the fucking Indians". So I can appreciate it for intended dramatic effect, even when deliberately used briefly in conversation to make a point judiciously, but as basically unthinking conversation I find it demeaning. When angry or upset I've resorted to the odd swear word in assault or aggravation (apologies to my ex but she returned fire admirably), but its generally bothered me afterwards. I like the possibilities of language - merely hearing an expression punctuated by a lot of fucks and cunts and shits or whatever reduces it, cheapens it, coarsens it and can even negate whatever point it was trying to make. And: for me it doesn't seem "tough" it just seems illiterate, stupid and ignorant.

Well incase some people hadnt noticed, i swear quite a bit. More of a habit that sparks in the school yard. Not an easy thing to stop, especially when everyone you hang out with is that same.

Ive worked in the construction industry all my life and i'm sure ive taught heaps of new australians the art of swearing,i was once invited to a barbeque at a work mates house and his wife accused me of teaching her husband all these bad words.
You should know when mirgrant starts on a building site he's sure to pick up every thing you say including a bit of bad language, but at home i never swear i just switch off .i suppose its just the pressure of getting the job done on time.

This pretty much sums up my feelings. I don't swear at work or around family (I'm still worried my mum will turn around and tell me off :dD Although I've worked up the courage to say "crap" around her)
I swear at home when I'm frustrated that something isn't working or if I get into a slinging match with someone but that's a extremelyrare occurrence

I'll pretty much use any word that comes to mind, but never the 'C' word.I'm pretty much exactly the same. My parents bought me up not to swear and I never do in front of family or young ones and the elderly etc. But...I can be a real potty mouth at work when things aren't going my way. Oh, and the 'C' word became my word of choice when we arrived home a couple of weeks back to find we'd been broken in to! ;) It's good for stress relief I think, just say it out aloud a few times to get it out of your system.

I tend to let quite a few swear words go when I'm at work, or around close friends, but very very rarely around people I don't know. Like others, I never have, and probably never will swear around my parents or sister and her family, as they are all religious, plus I just don't think it's necessary. As far as my family are concerned, I'm an angel. :rolling:
i swear quite often........ sometimes ill just be sitting round the house with nothing to do and a profanity will slip for no apparent reason..... one guy at uni tried to get me to stop by saying something annoying every time i swore, for example
"sh!t"
"toilets over there..... kinda dirty though so you might wanna put paper on the seat"
"Fark"
"flattered mate but i dont swing that way, i think that guy does though, he looks kinda striking, maybe ask him"
didnt work though.....
