I am beginning to agree.

I'm more than starting to think the "IT" industry is an
"IT" that needs shut down.

I don't like (nor use) M$(tm) products, don't really believe
U**X was ever a plausible direction either.

I'm posting this from a VMS box, however think
the new Google Groups has issues.

I was reading the "Protected Media" issue and having compatible hardware
now that really is pushing it, Microsoft literally forcing hardware
manufacturers to produce hardware that will be compatible with the
"protected media" handling of Vista, if the hardware is not compatible
no "protected Media" will play and vista will lock that piece of
hardware out of the system when ever any media is accessed

and to make the hardware compatible at the expense of compatiblity of
other OS and of course driving up the price of hardware

no way will I ever pay for an MS product

To stop your engine:- press "Start"

I tried Ubuntu, didn't like it much at all
I use Susi v.10
much easier for someone who hasn't had much nix experience

Same with our corporate network at work. We have about 130 P3 900s
running Win2k in 256megs of RAM.

Last upgrade was to Office 2003 or Office XP, not sure exactly what it's
called, and Outlook, dumping Lotus Notes. We also run a few Access
databases and some industry specific software. But they seem to be able
to handle it OK.

I think that we'll be getting new PCs this year and upgrading to some
flavor of XP. Mainly, they tell us, to enhance security and managability
of the overall network. Nothing really to do with what applications that
we run.
